Scaffolding suggestions?
hmmmm .. maybe use the fluorescent lights that are off for the "floor" and one of the other light fixtures for railing? Costly prestige wise but would be kinda cool looking I think.
There are a few things you could do, actually...
1) as Vladislause said, the large fluorescent lamps (off) work well, but cost 500 prestige a pop, don't know if that is an issue for you.
2) the small Shoji lamps (off) could do the trick, but even off, they're still kinda bright, and they're wood/paper, not the best thing in a Volcano, to be sure ;p
3) were I to build your scaffolding, I would use huge or large rusted vents, and make it look as close to those silly walkways you find in council bases as possible, the good thing about the vents is, you can actually angle them how you want, too (IF you have the patience)
good luck with whatever you decide, and post screenies ;p

Prestige is not much of an issue. I have over 4 million to play with and everything we need is already paid for. Item limits might be. The Fluorescent lamps have that nice "ladder" effect, with a space between the lamps, plus they have the added benefit of being usable for matching stairs.
Shoji lamps would be even worse, since you'd need even more of them.
Vents...when I first read that I thought "WHAAAAT? You can make them horizontal? WHY WASN'T I INFORMED????" but then I realized what you mean. That could be cool...it would use more items but would give a grungier look than lights.

I'm pretty sure he meant something like this:
No, I don't have the patience to angle them. Welcome to Squaresville, Daddy-o.

I understand this was a scaffolding thread, but the photobucket caught my eye and I started going through it and got a bit confused (possibly because my boyfriend is trying to have a conversation with cleverbot and is yelling at it); What was used to create the smoke effect in this pic?

Ok so I'm planning to install some kind of Mysterious Doomsday Device in my Evil Doomy Fortress of Evil Doomy Doom. However I need to be able to access it on multiple levels, which means I need some kind of scaffolding, like that Burkholder guy has for his giant robot.
Wooden wall platforms look quite nice, but like that Burkholder guy I built my Evil Doomy Fortress inside an active volcano, so there are safety issues. Good minions are hard to find, which means I might have to work on my Doomsday Device myself, and standing on a rickety wooden platform over a lake of lava is right up there on the Supervillain "Stuff not to do" list. Same goes for items that are invisible from the bottom, I wouldn't want to hit my head.
Rubble looks...odd. It would work for an arcane theme but I want a "construction" type feel. I've racked my brain and come up blank. Any ideas?
