Yep, these are the badges for taking out the RV Heroes, so you have to be villain or rogue to participate.

/hide is a wonderful thing.

It also helps to avoid publicizing PvE activities in a PvP zone. They aren't griefing when they attack you, that's what the zone is about.

Keep in mind too, that a lot of PVPers are pretty starved for action on this server and will use any activity in PVP zones as an opportunity to get some PVP action. I don't agree with this, but I can't fault them either.

If somebody you're arguing with goes off the deep end, don't follow.

I can fault them when you've got over a dozen players in zone, both hero and villain, all trying to work together so everyone can get their badges, all willing to stick around and PvP once the badging is out of the way, yet the griefers won't even let them do that. They're just there to intentionally disrupt the attempt to defeat the AV's. Pulling other spawns, buffing the AV's, etc...

just so it is clear, I will be doing this soon, cannot currently as I am a hero; for now.

Sadly, what they are doing is well within the definition of PvP in a PvP zone. While it may be in bad taste and put them at odds with other members of the community, it is definitely not griefing when they are attempting to stop you from defeating turrets, defeating Villain/Hero NPCs, or getting badges. They are PvPing, although it is against a person who is badging. But by the very fact that a badger is in the zone, the badger voluntarily puts themselves in a position to be attacked by a hostile party.

The PvP badges were created, In my opinion, for PvPers to show off that despite the opposition attempting to stop them, they were able to both defeat the Hero/Villain NPCs and other players. Similar to how Accomplishment badges were put in place to show that players who are interested in the story driven content completed the content.

The problem however, isn't with the developers nor the PvPers, the problem is actually with the badgers seeking completeness (which I also do) that aren't interested in PvP. Now before you get upset, let me finish. I recently began using the term indulging my addiction when it comes to acquiring new badges, and I believe it has given me a new insight on my enjoyment of the game. Each time I get a new badge on my badger, it gives me a temporary dose of gratification from that accomplishment. A moment of satisfaction based upon setting a set of bits on a server that says I did something in a game. It's about bragging rights to my fellow players that I have accomplished a lot of insignificant things in a past-time. Does it mean anything in the real world? No. But getting those badges makes me feel good and that's what matters. It gives me a reason to play with other people around the world to accomplish artificial and superficial goals in a fictional digital universe concocted by game designers and brought to life by an untold number of hours programming for which I pay a monthly fee to get this enjoyment... it's a digital drug.

I say these things, not because I seek to make badgers feel bad. And why would I? I'm not only a badging advocate, I'm also a addict. I say these things to provide my perspective on the situation. Hopefully, something that I typed here today can ease the psychological trauma brought about when pixels controlled by another player do naughty things to your pixels in a PvP zone.

So when your badge driven event gets disrupted by PvPers, leave the zone and do something else and enjoy yourself. Getting you upset isn't what they're trying to accomplish, sadly it is an unfortunate consequence. They're seeking the same gratification you get from badging, but it involves attacking and defeating a player controlled opponent. Unfortunately, the result of their satisfaction is the inhibition of yours and the two are in diametric opposition.

It could be worse, of course. You could be on a server with a far more active PvP population than Protector and trying to get the badges.

The question remains and of course never will have a satisfactory answer of when and if attacking a badger in a PVP zone becomes griefting.

I'm see both sides of this issue, as a badger, I just want to be left alone in those zones. And after an attack I will then state that I am there to simply farm badges. Most of the times the attacker will back off, yet there are those that just continue to attack to be annoying.

Now as a PVP'er, I would find it annoying that the one time I go to a PVP zone for PVP, all I find it badge hunters. I mean I want to PVP and they are there; it's open season.

What I don't get is the overall enjoyment of killing those that do not wish to fight back. When I was attacked in RV, I simply untoggled and stood there till they were done. Usually this would upset the attacker as now they cannot get a sastifactory kill. However this also is not right.

On this issue, I side with the PVP'ers; one cannot go into a PVP zone, then complain they are getting attacked. But think of the accomplishement once you have obtained the badge you are seeking. You not only beat back NPC's but actual people as well. I am happy of all 3 of my pill badges, even after they lowered the requisite down from 1000, (which is what I got). That was some hard work. I also got the infected badge from RV. So I look back at the frustration of RV now and say to all the PVP'ers.....

You may have beaten me several times; but I beat all of you and I have the badges to prove it!

No, but you can complain about PvPers who read the forums looking for dates and times when people will be in PvP zones preparing for raids, specifically so they can hunt them down and kill them with ease.

Now, blame the PvPers? I wouldn't dream of it. I blame the Devs for putting that **** in a PvP zone in the first place.

well I guess we could just wait till the next anniversary attack to get the High end Hero's out . But it's my money and I want it NOW!!!!!

Jerikko, there's your answer - maybe set up another a global channel (invite only to people you trust), or series of PMs/mail in game to the right people, and you could prob get enough people to take down AVs in RV that way. Unannounced, and mostly unmolested.

Asking folks to not PvP in a PvP zone is setting yourself up for failure.
