My account suspended... how would I go about finding out why?

Hello all,

My second account (not this one) was suspended. I tried to log onto the forums and was told it has been permanently blocked.

I've submitted a ticket asking the reason it was blocked, but I'm thinking it may be a few days before they even get back to me.

Wouldn't it be professional courtesy to send an email to the address connected to the account explaining the situation?

Is there a phone number I can call to speak to a live person?

Thanks for any information you can provide. I appreciate it.

you should have gotten an email. a ticket is a good way to start, and there is a number to call in the support section of the main website page.

Thanks for responding, Sharker.

Yes, there's a phone number I just found. Seems I have to wait until 12 PM central to call them.

It's just frustrating... an email would have been nice.

I had a few friend this happened to. If they think someone attempted to hack your account they lock it. You submit the support ticket they will ask you for some pieces of information like your game serial #, credit cards you have used to pay etc. It does take a bit of time to get it unlocked. Good Luck!

Captain_Valor_NA,

Do you, by chance, have an Aion subscription? Or particpicated in any Aion beta testing?

The Aion CS team has been known to disable any accounts that they think may, at one time, have been either hacked or used an RMT service. Yes, it does also affect CoH as well as other NCsoft games.

{GM_spam}, over at the Aion forums, has stated that the AION support staff has a zero tolerance policy and blocks/perma-bans accounts without sending a message to the account holder about the ban or the reasoning behind the ban

The reason: if the account was compromised in any way (like a RMT company gaining access to your master account), then they have no way to be sure that the owner information through the Master Account is valid. That they assume that the actual account holder/owner will contact NCsoft Customer Support to reclaim their account... which they always return once valid proof is given (such as a serial number used to create a game subscription on the account.)

They said that doing it this way, although difficult, is the only accurate way they can get the account owner to validate they actually own the account, since an RMT'er won't dispute the blocked account and won't care if access is restored.

So, yes, your best bet is to contact Customer Support even if you only have a CoH subscription, since most of the time the bans are based on multiple IP's used to access an account.

Has happened to several members of my SG. Support should sort you out, but normally takes a few days of toing and froing of emails.

Thank you all.

Well, I spoke to Vivian on the phone and she said something about a "ghost seller"? or "go seller"? Our connection wasn't the best to it was hard to make out. I guess my accounts had been compromised so they closed it.

Oddly, she said none of my game accounts were accessed... so I guess I'll change my password and hope for the best.

Thank you all for taking the time to help out a fellow Paragon citizen.

Goat Cellar?

We don' need no stinkin' signatures!

LOL perhaps. Although I think I'd know if I had a basement that housed farm animals.

I got to thinking...maybe she said "gold seller"? (as in RMT?)

Ahh, I assume she said "gold seller" which would refer to anyone purchasing from an RMT (Real Money Trade), or having their account hacked and stolen by an RMT company that could have logged into the account to see if the username/password combo was valid.

According to a bunch of sites that deal with anti-RMT, RMT companies will access an account, see if it's valid, and hold onto the login info so that they can gather names of people and spam the heck out of everyone all at once.

If NCsoft saw that a known/flagged IP of a gold seller logged into your master account/game account, they could have locked your account to be on the safe side.

Glad you got your account back. But, to be on the safe side, log into all of your alts (for each NCsoft game you subscribe to) and be sure that you still have all of your influence/infamy and if you have any games that deal with amor and weapons (like Aion/GW) be sure that those alts still have everything you applied to them. Gold Sellers that steal Aion-type accounts will strip you of all armor and weapons and sell it to a vendor to get as much "gold" as they can, then mail it to one of their own accounts to then resell.

Once again, glad your back!

Same thing happened to me not too long ago, Cap, and they gave me the same reasons behind it. Funny thing was, it happened right after I transfered a massive amount of INF from one of my accounts to the other, and transfered a few names, as well.

You didn't do any of that right before it got banned, by chance, did you?

Where do we go from here?
