Rikti Invasion Weekend
Well
Obviously we have an Invasion in Atlas. Park.
They flyin' in your War Walls, debtin yo people up
Tryin to bomb em dead, so yall need to
Hide your jerks, hide your hacks
Hide your jerks, hide your hacks
Hide your jerks, hide your hacks
And hide your dupes
Cos theyre bombin errbody out here.
This is how it starts...next thing you know, gone to the Americans.
only way u can get one going is to do a LGTF and it may not be on the side you are on it might be red or might be blue.
If you can, check the Virtue forum for the thread on how they organized the Rage Against the Rikti Dropship Challenge. They'd organized teams and captains at least a week in advance, planned which zones they were going to camp in until the invasion spawned there, figured out the flight routes, the whole schmear.
And it went off without a hitch - they took down 20 dropships in Talos, then 21 more in Peregrine Island, all in the space of an hour. I know - I was there, filming the whole thing.

Thanks DR and Elf but there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest.
I can't imagine it would be that difficult a thing. You just need to know the flight paths and get in with lots of flying folks who do lots of damage to intercept the drop ships as soon as they appear, preferrably on one of the longer sides to give you plenty of time.
I would think the hardest part is organizing that many people to hold together long enough to get in at the beginning of an event in an optimal zone for the attempt. That's the part I couldn't do. I have a hard time trying to organize a single team for a monster hunt when it's standing right in front of me.
Well, GA, I guess we'll just have to wing it. I'm on @AnElfCalledMack. My only 50's a Tanker, but I can grab her a jetpack and help out if I'm online. Send me a tell if you need someone.
1. Join JU and JFA2010. Ask a mod to + your event. In this case Drop ship raid. Time and date and perhaps faction/zone.
2. Get vidiot maps. They show some of the routes for the dropships on your map.
3. Get a jet pack. Find a person with Group Fly in case someone brings their flying stone tank.
4. When the time is nigh, yell at all the people in JU and JFA2010 that they need to gather in the proper zone for the drop ship raid.
5. Lead raid using /req. Hang out near where the ships enter the zone for their bombing runs. The ships cannot be slowed or immobilized. Blast ships.
Justice is full of the laziest yet most experienced and jaded people of all the servers. Asking usually gets you nothing. Whipping and berating them out of their torpor usually works better. And rubbing soft underbellies sometimes works bestest.
PS. Use an active voice to post everything instead of passive voice.
PPS. Instead of waiting on the zone invasion, you should just get a couple of teams to zerg a couple of LGtfs. Only takes half an hour and then you'll be guaranteed a time of invasion, and if you get enough people 'helping' to do the TF, you might saturate enough zones that you get the one you wanted.
Thanks Elf, I'll keep you in mind.
Thanks Pum... I knew you could come up with something useful if I tried harder.
I'm organizing my coalition. We can only put together a couple of full teams but we could provide maybe a half-dozen competent team captains with support instead. Most of us belong to both channels so I'm sure we can get some recruits when the time comes but that's a lot of bodies to try and secure at the spur of the moment. Anyone that thinks they can put together a team in advance speak up. I'll give out more details closer to time but it will almost certainly be sometime Saturday the 6th in the evening (U.S. time).
I thought the ships could be slowed? No? Then is there any reason to have more than buffers and damage with as many rads (or whatever) debuffing as possible?

Any chance someone might want to organize a Drop Ship event that weekend? I'd love to help take one down but I have no idea what's involved.
