Badge dissapointments

So I'm getting back into badging after a couple years-long hiatus. I'm careful to log my badger into different day jobs, and I'm spending some time to get the "new" exploration badges. "Closest to Completion" gave me the idea to go hunt some Rikti Heavy Assault Suits.

So I fly off to the War Zone, and start blasting all the Heavies I can find (queue experienced badgers groaning...you know where this is going). I check my badge completion, and it says I have defeated 4. I nuke a couple more of the buggers, and it says I have defeated 4.

It looks like only invasion Heavies count.

Anyone else plug away to get a badge, only to realize you weren't fitting the criteria?

Oh yeah. I was killing troll bosses, not supra trolls, at a supradine raid. Alas, the ones at the raid don't count.

However the Tunnels of the Trolls were loaded with 'em.

I'm more disappointed by being rewarded for not being logged in with a particular toon, just to get a day job badge. IMO, it's a dumb design, rewarding players for NOT logging in a toon just because you parked them somewhere...

But to answer the direct question: Not that I can recall, no.

That's because the regular trolls at the raid count toward a different badge.

I did this on CoT mages. I was fighting Fire Thorn Casters and other "Casters" thing they were mages, only to find out they did not count. Only the ones that specifically say "Mage" in their name count. Funny, they seem to be mages to me....

The scenario I'm about to bring up doens't necessarily fit what you are asking.. but it is a disappointment as well....

...Killing all those Custom enemies in AE and other various tasks just to have the badges stripped a couple weeks later. haha

Yeah, losing 100+ AE badges was a big disappointment. Another big one is there are still badges like the 5th Column gladiator and a few Anniversary badges that some people will never be able to get.

IMO, the removal of "30K defeats in test mode" badge was fair trade for loss of 100+ AE badges.

Yes, I think they should make these available in some fashion along the lines of what they have done with the Winter Event Badges.

I had that one (as well as all the other AE badges that were removed) done within a few weeks after they were introduced without playing more than a few hours a day. I really don't think any set of badges can legitimately be considered "too grindy" if they could be done so quickly.

People who whined about it so much managed to ruin the effort I and many other people put into it. Frankly I think it was pathetic that the Devs caved into people who *gods forbid* got upset that they were going to have to put a little effort into badging.

If you considered "30K defeats in test mode" to be too hard or annoying to do then guess what? You should have just not bothered to do it. All the whining manged to do was to grief the people who actually played the game and lost the rewards for their finished efforts.

Thanks, but no thanks. That's the kind of help from my fellow player I -don't- need...

For me its the damage badges. It's fair that I would be taking less damage than melee AT's. But because I have several +HP set bonuses and all the accolade powers, my MM that I've had for 33 long months has only 2 million plus in credit for damage badges.

*The fact that getting the Born in Battle badge works against you for getting any more damage taken badges really needs to be fixed Devs.*

Currently, other than Veteran badges, I do not think I those get on my own, without doing something lame like AFK damage farming.

Devs just put themselfs into corner when they declared that farming will not be tolerated in AE. They had no another way, but to remove AE badges that required intensive farming. *shrug*

Well I can accept that at the time those badges were removed there was a huge amount of whining going on about AE farming in general. Of course 99.5% of the people "farming" with AE were using it to PL characters and had absolutely nothing to do with badges.

Unfortunately as you say the Devs had little they could do to look like they were "solving" the farming problem other that to remove a visible set of badges. Sadly those badges really had nothing to do with the "real" AE farming problems. They were used as a scapegoat.

Ultimately there was no real justification for removing those badges in or of themselves. People who did not want to "grind" for them had the easiest option available to deal with it: simply choose NOT do them. There was no good reason to punish people who actually had no serious problem with getting them or even worst were already done with them.

There was one that particularly bothered me, but I'm past that now.

Don't worry if the post doesn't fit my question, as everything in here fits the thread name/spirit. I didn't realize I was opening up old wounds, though. A hearty pat on the back and a "There-there." from me.

Here's another one I did many years ago: I took down every Crey Protector I could find, not realizing I needed to hunt Paragon Protectors.

I also remember thinking "How will I know if it's a fake Nemesis?"

You don't need a badge title. We all know that you are a Chosen One Turg, so that's all that matters.
