I know the build is still a little raw. Trying to decide if it is worth it to place Reactive Armor in my 3 resistance toggles. Also, looking to put more procs in possibly. Big dream is to get some PvE Def/Res sets slotted in.

I know I gimped Midnight Grasp with Gravitational Anchor, and I am actually okay with that. At low levels below 29 it will not matter, as the power is not up, at 38+ I can lean on gloom, which has purple slotted, with purples in my other 2 attacks from dark, plus tons of Acc bonus will let me use my two vet attacks as regular, and tons of Rech will bring up all attacks so I can spam them. Anyways, that is the theory. And yes, this works. (sometimes) You do not know how gratifying it is to hit DM Shadow Maul, and see a ton of damage happen, cause you are lined up perfect on a lot of guys, so then hit Sands of Mu Vet, and thx to Purp ACC, just do it again. It reminds me of the Fifth Element repeat gun scene, but now I'm getting esoteric.

Any thoughts?

Now that I've thought it over if you have that much recharge, you may not need the damage from Midnight Grasp. I figure if you had Hasten you could probably just chain Shadow Maul and be done with it. :P

You may have made a pretty efficient smash build, here. Hard to kill, throws out massive amounts of attacks and damage, doesn't rely on heavy hitters.

Why did you 6 slot purples sets?

For the extra damages + effects (for fun), plus it gives me a ton of toxic resistance all added up, and that is just fun too.

Also, I knew I would be leaning on the 5 powers that are Purp'd as my attack chain (cause Dark melee only offers so many attack powers....) So the more tricked out those 5 are, the more fun I will have.

If i remember correctly, the absolute best chain is Smite-Gloom-SMite-MG. Since you gimped MG, i'd try to use Smite-Gloom-Smite-Siphon Life if you have enough recharge.

The one big error I see is slotting Siphon Life with doctored wounds. You don't get any acc or dam. Personnaly, i'd fraken slot it with some HOs. Since the buff, SP is too good of an attack to waste.

I don't think i see the Steadfast proc? You should put it in one of the resistance passive power. ( with 5 Lotg+7,5% and 5 full purples sets, don't tell me it's too costy =P)

I actually don't need the accuracy, due to the 5 purple sets, tons of ACC bonus. The Siphon Life decision was made with the idea of getting a huge heal when I hit it (That is working) and getting another 5% Global Recharge. I will definitely look at that Steadfast Proc. Thanks. (I do not know procs, or even I/Os much)

I just rolled the ITF with a sharp team in less than 30 minutes. I got backed into a corner by a spawn and was wailed onfor like 3 minutes, I just hit Siphon Life when my bar slightly dipped a couple times, never needed Dull Pain even. This guy is gonna make badging a breeze.

Also fought old sparky the Cap GM. I was a team of one, although there were others fighting him. He nailed me a couple times for almost my full end bar, and guess what? I hit him back, grabbing a full end bar from him. Twice in a row, him being the only opponent, and a GM. The global recharge made sure that power was up for the second time fast!

I think you should skip the Doctored Wounds, and go with

3x Nucleous Exposures + 3x Golgi Exposures

That will cap Acc/Dam/End/Heal

Your global recharge will take care of the rest.

There are more complicated slotting examples, tailored to taste - but that's pretty solid overall.

Siphon Life is one of your most important attacks, not slotting it as such is a shame. The above slotting will allow you to have your cake and eat it too.

I also think you're making a similar mistake with Midnight Grasp.

Not slotting 2 of your best attacks as attacks is a waste, it's more important than the global recharge IMO.

Actually, with Purples 6 slotted in Smite it hits like a truck for a moderate attack, and is always available with this level of recharge, always. So I use that instead of Siphon Life in my attack chain, and spam Siphon Life if I start taking damage.

Similarly, while Midnight Grasp is gimped as a major attack, it is working wonderfully as a hold. When i19 comes out I will add Fear, and have a solid Hold attack chain going with those two. For Damage I lean on my two Soul Mastery attacks. Also, with 5 Purple sets slotted my two Vet attacks are accurate enough to use, although with this level of recharge I rarely need to resort to them.

In the End, this build is all about bringing Soul Drain up ASAP (it has about 5-10 second cool down now), and having my Panic Button Dull Pain up ASAP. (It can be hit now before it expires, although I rarely need it thanks to my tanky build.) It is my panic button against Psi, AVs, and teams that have bitten off way more than anyone can chew.

Also, when i19 comes out I will add unstoppable, and if you are going to have that, you might as well have it up almost as soon as it drops, cause if you are going to lean on it for a mission, you are going to want it allatime. Theory being Unstoppable, right before crash Ethereal Shift temp power, come out of that, hit Unstoppable again. Let the AV chew on that lol.

I really can't stress this enough, you're making a mistake with this.

Siphon Life is not a heal, Siphon Life is an attack that heals you.

Using it as part of your attack chain both increases your DPS and increases your survivability.

Never wait to "heal" yourself with it, instead, look at the healing aspect of it as an addition to your regen capabilities.

I think you're also misunderstanding what the slotting I gave you will do.

  • 94.93% Dam
  • 94.93% Heal
  • 94.93% End Rdx

  1. It's not a hold, it's an immobilize.
  2. Dead things are permanently immobilized.
I think you're only looking at individual attacks and not considering what your damage output over time is.

If you want to fear and hold stuff you are playing the wrong AT.

Brutes are killing machines. They kill stuff.

If that's what you're looking for, you might try this for ideas.

I had this laying around, it could use some tweaks (have to be sneaky when I put builds together at work ) , but it's solid overall.

Soul drain rech on 4.29s.

Dull pain is perma.

Softcapped to SM/L with 3 enemies in range.

NOTE: Brawl and Sprint are acting for stand ins for Stamina and Health for i19.

If you plan on teaming, this is a bad theory.

You do not want to use Ethereal Shift to escape, while your team deals with the situation - possibly without someone holding aggro.

Ah, I think we have come to the misunderstanding here. This build is for badging over the next year, solo'ing arcs/farming badges solo.

I will of course be running task forces/strike forces on it, but it already does okay on them. Hit a Cim ITF first thing last night. I got pinned in a hallway by a giant spawn, team nowhere in sight, and I was wailing on stuff lol. Thank god they ended the mission and I could exit or I would prob still be there kiling stuff.

I am not surprised though, because my last 6 levels before I respec'd, with just SOs, I was farming +2/X8 AE. that was without Soul Mastery attacks, and of course no purps. With my recharge through the roof, a attack that will always refill my end bar (which is up long before i ever need it now) , and 2 Soul Mastery atacks purp'd, he drives like a semi truck. Easier to stop than a tank, but watch out, cause with momentum, even if you stop him there will be a price. (I'm talking to you AVs!)

But seriously, I know there are probably a lot of ways to make this build more "perfect", but I am having so much fun. I really love the added attacks in my 5 purple chain firing off. Great to see knockdown, flames, etc. And the extra damage is just neat. And PS, the Midnight Grasp is a hold now, at least 25% of the time, snicker. Gotta love Gravitational Anchor.

Thanks for the tips. At this point I am just looking for Procs to mule into my one slot powers. Have a great day in the cities.

Do I need a knockback Proc in Invulnerability? I always put 3 (all diff of course) in my dark armor toons, to get 12 pts protection. (I really hate going flying, one of the reasons I run Brutes.)

I have a couple SS/Invul 50s. I don't recall ever having a problem with knockback. Okay, there was one time, on a LRSF, one of the signature heroes knocked my big blue butt across the podium like I was a 1st level, right out of the creation screen. But seriously, that is the only time I can remember an Invul toon being knocked back. And I just assumed his KB attack was buffed, he had a proc that fired, whatever. Any thoughts out there Invulnerabilty armor users?

Okay, started researching Procs this morning (still away from the game on holiday. Sitting here with a rum coffee and waking up lol. You meant the Defense 3% Proc. Thanks. Will get this as soon as I am back at the market.

BTW, anybody else get knocked on ther can by Posi and was surprised?

You've got 4 Acc enhancers on this, but I got 4 Purple sets, not counting Grav Anchor if I do this. Why I need that much ACC? Fighting +7 AVs? Scatches head back at ya.....

Do you mean sprint?

Look again. Swift can only take Run speed IOs.. not run speed Set IOs.

Not Sprint. Swift. the fitness one.. Look it up.

Actually there was a short period (about 1 week) where Swift could take Celerity and Freebird sets. That was removed due to escort mission issues so if he hasn't respecced in a few years it's technically possible he does have Celerity in Swift. That being said, pics or it didn't happen.
