Are Brutes Broke now ?
I used to peg 100% pretty regular, just by being on a large team and eating the alpha. I dont use taunt, so had to hop in and feel the love. Prob why I want a tankier brute now lol.
I'd prefer a bar that goes to '11', ie 110%, to indicate the effects of 100% fury + frenzy. It's all an illusion actually, since the devs can animate it however they like. But it sure stokes the ego to see if top off.
I'm pretty sure Castle did. He found the perception-based arguments less than compelling, if memory serves, and anticipated a flood of bug reports if people moused over a full fury bar

Why not change it to give you a 1.6% buff per point of fury instead of 2, and multiply the amount you get from anything by 1.25? Then 80% or whatever becomes 100%, the bar works, and it properly reports 100%. Brute power would be exactly what it is now (non-Frenzy) and it just takes multiplying a number.
A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

That is also working as intended. Brutes were never meant to be able to cap their damage without outside help.
If you think about it, it's still more than fair. No other AT can even reach 300% without outside help (with the exception of Kinetics characters, and their damage cap isn't much higher than that anyway)
To actually reach the absolute damage cap a brute needs 2 kins popping off saturated Fulcrum Shifts simultaneously. I've seen my damage bonus number turn blue exactly ONE time, and that's how it was done. (if you monitor your numbers, the number will turn blue when you've hit the hard cap of whatever number you're watching)

I think what most people want to see is the minimum at +0% to be 0%, and the maximum at +150% to be 100%, but that makes each point of % be like +1.5% to your damage. There's no reason that wouldn't work, but it would make the Fury to damage boost conversion that much more complicated.
I think another issue is that originally the devs envisioned situations in which perhaps Brutes WOULD have +200% damage. It might last only a few seconds, and the normal maximum was about +170%, but they didn't realize how hard it would be to fight uphill against that spike. +200% is a nice round number, though, +150%, not quite so much.
The only problem I see with these suggestions, is that you can actually get to a 100% full fury bar with the Frenzy alignment power.
Of course the rest of the time, there is that big nagging space that you simply can't fill no matter what you do. |
The 100% from Frenzy doesnt drop immediately, but it starts to slide within seconds. (Maybe that is immediate in the new rules?) Fighting farms for my last 6 levels, at x2/+8 solo. It seems like my Fury bar is 90%. Are my eyes bad (yes), but no, it seems real close to the end of the Fury gauge. Anyways, I suffer from not enough AoEs, so slow going. (I did not put in Epic powers because I needed to slot def powers LOTG, when I 50 I respec to Purps +LOTG, and get 2 Soul Mastery attacks, one a fat AoE) I am making a level about every hour. Anybody got a good farm for smashing/lethal resistance/defenses? Mine seem to be using something else with theirs, maybe dark. Some kinda undead warrior warehouse thingy.

Lol, god I hope I get done by tonight. I get off work in a few hours. I need 18 bars to 50. Most of that will be in AE, although I need to do a Patron Arc partway to unlock Soul Mastery, so that will slow me down slightly. When I 50, I respec, then start my accolade hunt (Invader done, rest untouched mostly), then I start Strike Forcing when I can get good teams, and Ouro soloing until I am badged up redside, then off to the wild blue yonder for more badging goodness.

I also suggested an Inspiration that does the same thing as that Frenzy power, so other Alignments than Villains would have access to its effect.
And the truth is, since I don't ever think I heard tell of old Fury exceeding 90% (I'm not sure it ever exceeded 85%) there has always been that empty space on the bar. It's just a lot bigger, now.
