I'd say its something like this:
70-80% of female chars are traps.
90-95% of catgirls are traps.
I know like, 2 women who have catgirly characters. One I've not seen play since like 2007, the other doesn't so much have catgirl characters as like, characters that have tails and/or ears but none of the rest of the usual catgirl ********.
Of course, YMMV and all that, but I just ate so I'd rather not discuss catgirl mileages.

Those are a few of my catgirl characters. The others are the usual aliens, accidents, and mutants. Most of them have no connection to cats other than appearance. Only three have claws, and one of those is the one in her PJs.
I would say that I don't make "catgirly" characters by this game's standards, which is why I've distanced myself from that part of the community over time, even changing my global name, forum name and avatar recently.
However, I do prefer SS and SJ for travel, and enjoy thinking up cutesy cat-themed names. One of my oldest characters is a Stalker called "The Mewtilator". <.<
