Elec/Earth vs. Earth/Earth

looking for advice on one set over the other, just cant make up my mind.

earth/earth just feels clunky to me by the time i get all my aoe's down i could have just ran up and smashed em all already but i can also manage multiple groups at once if need be, gets more out of power boost from what i read, and well lumpy

elec/earth seems to have a setup done while rushing into combat and during, also has all the sapping benefits but seems the pets are lacking from what i read also less benefit from power boost.

Earth/Earth is a bit at odds with itself. Earth control is almost purely ranged, you don't really need to be in melee at all. You'd be better off standing back and blasting things to kingdom come as they flounder in your mez patches. Quick animating ranged attacks work well with it, as do Cones. So Fire and Ice are two good choices to go with it (Fire being the strongest damage wise by a considerable amount).

Earth Assault is possibly one of the best pairings with Elec. You can be knocking things down whilest draining them, and PB (unlike Domination) will apparently work with most of the powers, most notably Conductive Aura. I've just asked the Power Boost question myself and apparently it will also carry over to your chained confuse and Static Field, as well as Paralyzing Blast. Just make sure you fire PB off first and then the AOE mez. Then stand in amongst the mezzed enemies clobbering away and watch the blue bars drain away.

I have an Elec/Earth and am having a ton of fun with it. PB works very well with Elec. It affects both endurance drain AND endurance recovery so you can both drain mobs quickly and run from fight to fight even if you're low on end.

Oh, Power Boost works with Static Field? I thought SF is a "pet" and PB won't affect it.

And I agree, Elec/Earth is awesome! Conductive Aura seems like it's made for a melee-dom and Earth can cost a lot of endurance once you start chaining Seismic.


What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

I agree elec/earth is the best fun I have had a sa dominator.. I am on level 31 and it has not lost my interest at all.. and I plan on massacre of all chars with ios that I have just for him.

I think Power Boost does increase endurance drain in Static Field. Last night I was doing a tip mission with a boss and after I dropped static and ran in to hold, after 5s, she was almost dried! It was scary quick. Not that it really matters 'cause she was held already but I think PB increases +end drain in Static Field. I know it affects Condutive Aura.

pb boosts lots of 'psuedo pets'. Elec control isn't unique that it boost its ones too.

pb does boost -end, but does NOT affect recovery. If it affected -recovery, it would affect +recovery, ie. our own.

I thought that it does affect +recovery in heat loss? Never tested, but I thought it did.

Simple rule: if socketed enhancements boost the ability of a pseudo pet, then Power Boost will enhance those same abilities. All that Power Boost does is grant the equivalent of socketed enhancement to a variety of attributes, all of which ignored ED.

Some people still claim that /Psi is the best sapper for Electric Control. They just haven't tried Power Boost yet...

i currenlty am working on an elec/earth dom, its lvl 45 now and i loveeeeee her!!! i still havent came up with a build im 100% satisfied with yet though, im trying for a soft capped defense, melee oriented build (not sure if ill be able to achieve this) but ill try. its got plenty of crowd control, really nice ST damage, lots of mitigation with the stuns and knockup/back from earth, and i went with MU as my epic, for more -end and another elec based pet (mu gaurdian) which spawns its own voltic sentinal. so all in all im very pleased with the combo.

Psi is the best sapper. PB is great, nobody will deny that, but Drain Psyche is a 30 second 500% recovery debuff. That is 30 seconds of them not even getting the pokes from end ticks in. Get enough recharge and you can do that to every spawn. PB just can't compete.
