Status Protection... How do I get it on a controller?

I did an STF today... and i've been getting stunned alot... is there a way, maybe like IOs... to solve that?

There are really only two ways: 1) take the Psi APP set for Indomidable Will. It is a click mez protection power. The only problem is that it takes a LOT of recharge to make it permanent. 2) Get your Defense up high enough that the mez will miss you 95% of the time -- i.e. softcap your defenses. The problem with that is it is very expensive and you may need to make some sacrifices on your build to get there.

For most characters, Indomidable Will is the best choice. There are IO sets that give Status Resistance . . . but Resistance only shortens the duration of the mez, and does not protect you against mez.

My build that i am shootin for has like 5secs short of perma hasten, and perma am... is that enough for perma dom will?

Nope, you need a bunch more than that. You get perma-hasten and AM by around 175% recharge... perma IW takes about 206%... the same as it takes to get perma-phantom army on an Ill/Rad.

The Force Field powerset has mez protection built into Dispersion Bubble (which is a point-blank area ally defense buff), but has a sleep hole. So if sleep is your problem, see plan A with Indomitable Will.

/Sonic also does the same with a toggle granting yourself and others around you damage ressitance, and protection to held/stunned/immob

Break Frees or teaming with an Emp/Sonic/Pain/Therm/Poison/Traps/FF/Storm.

Or really, just decent teammates in general. Last time I did a STF was on my Fire/Nrg blapper, and I honestly don't recall getting mezzed other then possibly once or twice.

Held/stunned/confused mobs don't mezz. Mobs that are aggroed on Tank/Brute are not mezzing you. When you have a gazillion defense from your forcefielder buddy, you are not getting mezzed.

An Ice/Rad has a lot of soft control (so mobs are not held/stunned and the confuse is decent in Ice but not perfect) and can definitely be built as a melee oriented character. Standing near a tanker can cause some of the AoE mez to hit you (the STF has a fair amount of this) as well as having any stray aggro then also targeted on you (yay Arctic Air, Ice Slick, and toggle debuffs). Not to mention that Frostbite will likely draw a ton of aggro as well.

IW does work very, IME. It does not protect you from Immobilizes, which are a common mez effect in the STF and one which hurts a character who wishes to be in melee (but Combat Jumping can cover that).

Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.

Is that global recharge, or global plus slotted recharges?

That is Global only. The duration of IW is 90 Sec, and the Recharge is 360. You can almost cut the Recharge in half with slots in the power, but you need to cut it again in half with global recharge (including Hasten's 70%). So that takes about 206%. Of course, part of the problem is that you can't put two powers on auto-fire, so you have to watch out for either Hasten or IW to fire it off as soon it recharges.

Same with Phantom Army: 60 Sec duration, 240 Recharge. Cut almost in half with Recharge in the power, then 206% global recharge to cut it in half again. Perma-Hasten handles 70% of it.

Yeah, I always keep IW on auto, but I have yet to find a smooth way of making sure Hasten fires when its ready. Maybe I should bind it to jump/spacebar or something...

If you don't want to go with IW, you could softcap your S/L defense and take Acrobatics. Breakfree's should still be carried, however a lot of the mezzes won't get through and Acro will help with the holds that do. Not to mention softcapping your defense will greatly increase your survivability.

On my Fire/Rad, Hasten is on Auto, but I keep AM & IW next to each other in the Alt+1 & 2 spots to fire off when they're up. I got both AM & Hasten perma, but IW has like a 10sec lag, which is really annoying at times, but I keep handy a few BFs just in case. I do really wish the game would let you have more than one power on auto though.
