Great story! The little girl sound like a born gamer.

I'm running a GURPS Supers campaign right now, and we usually play at a friend's house. About a month ago my wife was unable to watch our 10 year old son, so we moved gaming over to my house. I asked my son if he wanted to sit in and play a superhero with the "big boys", and he enthusiastically agreed. I checked that it was OK with my buddies - the biggest thing was to keep the talk PG-13 - and they all agreed.

Well, I let my son play one of the NPC party members (a rich battlesuit guy, go figure), and he REALLY got into it. He was RPing everything, and he did pretty well in that night's battle. The party was facing robots, and without prompting he asked if his Engineer (Robotics) skill could give him an advantage or insight to help defeat the robots. I said, "Make a skill roll". He rolled 8 under his skill, so I gave him a bonus to damage because he had identified a weak spot.

The upshot is, he loved it and wants to play again. But this time he wants to play his own character, and as he said, "This time I want to start from the beginning." He meant that he didn't want to jump into an ongoing campaign, but wanted to start a story. So, I'm working on a martial arts scenario based loosely on "Kung Fu Hustle" and "The Karate Kid". We're trying to enlist some of his friends to play as well.

*sniff* I got to play a PnP RPG with my son, and he liked it. I'm so proud!

I've been planning my daughter's first DnD game since before she was born.

She's only 14 months old, though, so it'll be a little bit.

"And for us this is the end of all stories, and we can mostly say they lived happily ever after. But for them it was the beginning of the real story. All there life in this world and all there adventures in Narnia had only be the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of The Great Story which no one on earth has ever read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before" - C.S Lewis, The Last Battle.
