A dev in pvp!!!!
No.
many of us plan to leave the moment another MMO with a decent pvp system comes around. CoH developers have already made it perfectly clear that there is not enough incentive to take another look at pvp; despite promising the community to do just that. It's time to move on. |
At one point, it did.
"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict
I think the allure is the free movement and speed of PvP. If you're a fiteklubber, moving to other games probably wouldn't be a problem.
Personally, every other MMORPG seems bad to me, but I'm not really into the genre. Just liked this game for some odd reason, though the current state is beyond bad for PvP, which is the only entertaining aspect.
Ok, that makes sense to me.
WTF.. I hate it when threads get neutered completely.
"His Imperial Majesty's Minister of Restraints and Leather" -LHF
Two naughty acronym teams / Ascension / Convenient / Artic and the Chillz / Fap / Other teams I can't remember (sorry.. mind is goin')
Not at all. You stated that you plan to leave the moment you find an MMO with decent PvP. That sounds like a pretty solid statement that you do not like the PvP of ANY MMO currently on the market.

it probably means that s/he, like the rest of the pvp community that is still around, is too lazy to leave to a current MMO and invest the time in a soso game when newer/possibly better ones are on the horizon. and there is some reason they're still here the most likely being friends still play and generic you is using the game as a glorified chat client or you're waiting on a sub to expire.
I heard from a semi-reliable source that they are looking into removing Travel Suppression and Heal Decay in PvP. At least the Travel Suppression when attacked or using a heal or inspiration, the suppression when you fire an attack yourself will probably remain, since it is still that way in PvE.
(The source is reliable, but that doesn't mean they won't change their minds about it)

If i'm not mistaken TS was not introduced because of kiting techniques, it was put in because practiced players can skip the rooting in power animations fairly easily. TS was added as a counter to this. The problem is that the amount of time suppressed is based on the type of power, when it should be based on the animation time of said power. Subsequently the freedom of movement and fast paced gameplay this game is known for was diminished in pvp. I'm not so sure that was their goal, but it might have been.
I don't have a rational explanation for why people getting attacked are suppressed. If I had to guess it's probably because they arbitrarily chose how long power types would cause suppression on the caster, and had to have the targets be suppressed or breaking combat would be too easy. *shrug*
I was in RV on freedom around 6pm est 9/30/10 and joined a vill team with a guy on it named NC_SOFTOCHO , we all just thought he was a reg player being funny, after awhile he said he had to get back to work then left, but then he sent all of us in RV an ADmin message saying he had fun. We were all blown away , everyone was wishing we would have drilled him for questions about pvp, have the devs played in pvp before?
