Custom Actionfigures
I would like to know this, too. Can someone who knows of these things post something pertaining to how?
1) Learn to sculpt and take apart/put together action figures :7
Really, that's what most of it is. Some of it is just repaints, but a lot is buying six action figure dudes and knowing what to use from which and how to assemble all the parts into something close to what's wanted and fixing the not-quite-right stuff with green stuff or clay or other sculpting materials.
I figured that much, I just wish there was a more specific guide with pictures and such. Or a series of videos or something.
There are, if you go away from action figures and don't mind static figures - military modeling and wargaming sites should have a *lot* of this sort of thing.
Even if you want to stay with poseable figures, a good bit of the information will still be valid.
I am aware of the customization community involving miniatures and mini-wargaming. I, myself, play Warhammer 40,000 when I can.
You might look into finding a action figure plant tour or something. Or a "how its made" That should fill in your basic "how to" of action figures. That'll make building them a heck of a lot easier.
I think a good starter would be to take something like an iron man or spidey (simple costume) and add a ton of extra features spikes skulls chains belts etc etc etc then repaint and repaint. Give yourself some knowledge. Then go for a more specific look.

Hey, Azure Watcher! I was just chatting with you in Virtue earlier. What a coincidence. =)
Anyway, even though it's more 'sculpting' than 'action figure,' Super Sculpey is pretty good sculpting clay in my opinion. If you decide to ever go that route. And even if you don't, it's still tons of fun to play with. =D
Which one were you? XD I had quite a bit of people around me. That was actually Azure's RP debut.
So, I was playing on my newest character, The Azure Watcher, and I was thinking 'Wouldn't it be cool if I could make action figures based off of my CoX characters?'
I mean, who wouldn't want that right?
So, after browsing the internet, I found a few people already make their own custom figures. The issue I am having, though, is that I can't seem to find an easy to understand guide to making it. I was hoping you guys can help me out. Who knows, if I enjoy it enough I might start commissioning.
PS: To those waiting for the Chibis I was suppose to draw. It's been hectic lately and I just threw my scanner out so the Chibi thing is a no-go for now. If you're one of those people who wanted me to draw them a Chibi version of their characters, please send me a PM with a pic of said character so I can know who I'm suppose to be drawing once I get a new scanner.
