Need help deciding Fire/??

Now, I'll admit I don't really have much experience in Corrupters, I tried a few about a year ago (To get epic red Energy and Electric blasts) but now

I'd like to try a new one with power customisation and more diverse teams (Instead of lots of MM's there are now other AT's, including blue side ones) but I don't know what to pair with Fire (My first ever character was a Fire/Fire blaster (Got to level 13 in the trial)) I was thinking something like /Storm /Rad /Kin as something fun and effective (I don't particularly want to go /Dark unless I'm given information on how it is the best combo and deserving of the hundreds of people playing it for Tar Patch + Rain of Fire)


So what do you guys and gals think I should try?

Fire/Dark.

It's more than just RoF+Tar Patch, it's just that particular combo is fantastic. The combination of Fire Blast and Dark Miasma works so well because Fire is pure offense with no defense wheras DM is just the opposite.

So they complement each other perfectly. Add into that the fact that you get your key powers very, very early on and its a great character.

Fire/Kin and Fire/Rad are also very good combos, if those appeal to you more.

Fire pairs well with a lot of secondaries. fire/storm, fire/cold, fire/dark are all great combos. I'm fond of fire/traps personally.


/gignore @username is the best feature of this game. It's also probably the least used feature.

Fire/dark miasma is a great combo and it'd definitely bring a lot of value to both your team and solo play, but you could also look at fire/kinetics (I played with one yesterday -- she was ridiculous to watch), fire/radiation emission, or fire/trick archery. Personally, I'd nudge you towards the last simply because I love trick archery, and paired with fire as a primary you're not going to have to waste your best attack to light an oil slick. You'd be a debuffing machine with a killer primary.

I've got a Fire/Storm in the 30s that I'm really enjoying. I've had to learn to use the storm powers in ways I didn't with my controllers so it's been more enjoyable to play than I expected. /Dark seems the popular choice and it's also strong. I prefer to shorter recharge time on freezing rain and it's extra effects. I haven't been a big fan of rad, and in this case the longer time to put the debuffs on and they fact they aren't as powerful as defenders made me want to play storm. Personally I solo quite a bit so Kin was out. I have a kin defender at 50 and don't need to go through that again.

Cold is an interesting choice. The main assistance for you damage, Sleet, comes late. You get some really nice single debuffs and buffs for your teammates. Storm offers some other damage, but with a lot of knockback. If you aren't a fan of knockback, cold might be the set to try.

I've got a Fire/TA at 50, and am currently leveling a Fire/Dark. Honestly, both are very fun, as Fire makes everything fun IMO.

Fire/Storm is one of my favorites. Fire/Dark is IMHO, overrated. Yes, it is a great combo, but not better then something like Fire/Storm or even Fire/Traps.

Fire/Storm, Fire/Traps, Fire/Rad and Fire/Dark are all pretty even in terms of soloability, debuffing, and teaming capabilities. Fire/Kin is less solo friendly, but more team friendly, and *ultimately* outdamages all corrupters, but not until late game.

Fire/Cold is somewhat similar to Fire/Storm, but is more team based, less solo friendly, and blooms much later.

I have both a Fire/Dark and a Fire/Rad.

Fire/Dark is safer, but Fire/Rad is more fun!

I went Fire/Kin, Solo-only. Had a lot of fun as it played fast and hard, AoE'ing minions. Didn't like EBs and other hard targets though.

Only quibbles?
Was disappointed in Inertial Reduction over CJ/SJ, though. Ended up respeccing out of IR for CJ's protection for Immob. It's a real shame when a pool power (or more specificly a pair of them) is better than a main powerset power.

Even though I was solo, I still took a one-slotted Speed Boost to buff whatever pets I occasionally picked up in missions or whatever.

Have a Fire/Traps and really like it.

Then, I started playing a Fire/Rad. Perma Hasten/AM with high DPS? Sold.

I went more than a little corruptor crazy with GR. I've got a Fire/Dark, Fire/Traps, and a Fire/Rad. All seem quite capable and are fun to play solo and teamed.

Fire/Traps is pretty super. The DPS of Fire with the Utility of Traps is a great combo. Softcapping is reasonable. Decent Mez Protection built in. Good for AV and GM hunting. Also, Traps allows for cool IO slotting IMHO which can help those on a budget early on in there gaming career. My Frapper (Fire/Trapper) was pretty godly, even at low lvls. I think the build is tight early on, but because I skip the bombs and the nuke, it opens up late game to lots of flexibility for your build preferences. I also like the fact that it plays godly, but you still do not see as many Frappers around.

Of course /Rad, /Storm, /Cold, and /Dark are all great too, so go for what feels good to you. I think /TA would be good actually late game, although probably underrated. OSA + Rain of Fire in itself has got to be all kinds of yummy goodness. Hmmmmm, maybe a new project is in the works...

Fire/Traps would be a tough call, but I'd definitely not rank Fire/Storm over Fire/Dark. Storm is a tricky set to play well whereas Dark is very powerful right out of the box, includes a self heal and a pet to back you up.

Storm brings more offense than Dark does, but Fire doesn't need more offense.

Fire/Dark is highly rated because its really, really good. Fire/Traps and Fire/Storm are of comparable power but not ease, how fast they become that uber and how flexible they are.

I'm a recovering altaholic.

Up until recently, I was happy developing one character at a time.

Now, with GR, I decide to explore Redside and find Corruptors.

Fine, I'll try a little Fire/Traps.

Then, I find Fire/Rad.

And now you dangle Fire/Dark in front of me, touting the awesomitude?

Do you know what you're doing to my marriage?
