Emp/Psi Defender.
Whats your recommended primary? Fire?
My only concern about Dark Armor as a secondary is not much damage support. Death Shroud is a nice tick, don't get me wrong, but I feel like killing 54's could be faster.
But..considering you werent using a 3rd AOE or BU (from what I could see) in your video, I could be a bit off-base in that line of thinking.
I was actually thinking of /Dark Armor. I've seen my scrapper friend on justice do some amazing things with it, and I'd be putting it on a Brute.

Yeah, I'm Fire Melee without build up or a third AoE. That build was just for tanking.
Perhaps SS would be better. The rage will increase the output of Death Shroud, and footstomp is goodly damage and mitigation. You could add Fireball from the epic, or Gloom and Dark Oblit if you're willing to crossover.

Yeah but more potential than a Fire or SS primary?
Nope. Got the brute on virtue to the 20s and gave up on him.
He was going to be far too superior in every way. To the OP, you should seriously consider a claws/dark brute. There is huge potential there. |
Ok..I see the boon of recovery auras, and the two AOE's of Psy Scream and Psy Tornado, but other than that, whats the catch? Wouldn't it take you forever to even start hurting +4's.

It's amazing what a level 54 Imperious can do with powerboosted fortitude and AB.

I know that! I was just poking fun at how many posts of his I've seen where he claimed the brute version would be better. Like this one. |
Be well, people of CoH.
Get a solo base for storage, buy up ... what... 5 respecs? Strip him down and start over. That's gotta be cheaper than buying all the IOs over again.
Think about all the pros: You'll get all your vetspecs back, and you'll have a better character, and you'll have a taunt aura.

And I'll second this. There's synergy between Follow Up and Death Shroud, plus claws has some stupidly good AoE. Spin, Eviscerate, and Shockwave. For what it's worth, I know of an empathy defender who solo's the last mission of the ITF on +4/x8 and doesn't even take damage. It's amazing what a level 54 Imperious can do with powerboosted fortitude and AB. Otherwise, just ignore Coming Troll. |
Uhhh that is exactly why I said Emp/Psi is an awesome soloer...
Wow, Dechs! You are so mean to me
My first thought was sword/dark armor scrapper, but the lethal might get a bit annoying. And in the exceedingly high level case (where I don't live but you guys do) you can probably get your melee defense capped without needing Parry.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
You could just re-roll him.

All true. But I'd lose all of the anniversary badges. Strange that I care about them considering the only badging I do is for the accolade buffs.
Be well, people of CoH.
Make anniversary badges global please.
A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!
With the talk about Claws/fire on the brute forum I went and got the urge to roll a Claws brute just to see. I was impressed with it even if I just went a couple of levels. I did do /dark because I'm not sure I can handle /fire being the squishiest of the secondaries. Of course, I didn't really keep it since I was really just trying to give my Kin/sonic a new look and decided it looked better on something different. I have too many alts, so I caved to rolling a couple new ones as is. I'm still not playing all the sets I want to try out, but if I could squeeze a Claws/dark in there I would. I already got the look for it. If I could find a name for something I always roll it for no other reason then to have the name.
Have you thought about Night Widow/Blood Widow build (Follow Up + double Assault)? I was doing +4 x 6 Longbow with Warden in every group. It was hard but my build isn't totally IOed (since I never plan a build for farming) and she doesn't have fighting pool to help her survive heavy hits.
I did manage to kill most of the spawns on my own but I had to sort of "lure" them to a corner so my Spin and Eviscerate can hit more LBs.
Maybe Longbow isn't a good one to farm as their wardens and sonic grenades can be overwhelming. I am pretty sure my NW can handle +4 x 8 CoT, Councils and maybe even Carnies since NW has good psi resistance and lethal damage is deadly against them.
Not sure if my NW can handle +4 x 8 Malta because those lethal resistance is going to tire my fingers out. Oh and same as Crey. Just takes too long.
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.
IO all you want and make it so it's hard to die, but defender soloing speed is still the same.

Why Psi? It is the Cimeroran's (including EBs) greatest weakness. No defense or resistance to it, and i think they may take bonus damage from it.
But don't you get Imperious until the last mission?? How does Emp/Psi handle the first 3?

Hell... I might reroll Chaoswolf, currently claws/wp brute, as a claws/dark brute. Sound fun and fits the concept.

You can freely change difficulty settings mid-ITF by switching the settings and logging out.
<_< It may not seem like it, but I'm pretty damn brilliant when I want to be.
My SS/Shield/Fire Farming Tank is completely purped out, 'More-than-Capped' positional defenses, high S/L resist, double-rage, etc.- and I'm severely dissapointed by his survival performance on maps where I am fighting +2 Bosses or +3 Groups & Bosses.
I figured a tank should be able to handle +4's really, but then again- I run the toughest ambush farms there are, and I guess when you have 3 groups of enemies +3-4 Bosses running in at you and are at max aggro cap, enough boss hits get through to eventually put me down. Plus, being a tank, I kill a lot slower than a Brute would with respectable Fury.
So....I'm now searching for a new project AT that can fit the following criteria:
-Can take out +4x8 w/Bosses groups in a respetable amount of time
-Can walk into a variety of mission maps that ar not catered to one specific type of damage and still mow though +4 groups without face-planting often.
-Has a respectable single-target chain of attacks as well as great AOE's
-Can be managed with healthy endurance levels
-Is not a Fire/Kin Troller
Any suggestions? I believe in the end I'll need a Brute of Dominator for this excercise, but if you think differently please speak up!
