Pricing 30's and under
But they're very desireable.
So we have two options:
1. There are none for sale.
2. There are a couple, but they're more expensive than most people are willing to pay.
Those are the only two possible states the market can be in. I prefer the second, because it means I have a choice.
eryq's comments in this forum are guaranteed confusion for anyone with a grasp of basic market forces.

That seems unreasonable. Rare things are not supposed to be everyday commodities. The entire point of "purples" is that they're rare, and you don't automatically have a full set of everything in purple for every character.

Assuming only purples are the only thing with 0 on hand. BUT IT'S NOT. Is everything supposed to be rare? Don't think so, hence the 0 equals sucky drop rates.....

The primary limiting factor on listing things for sale is market slots, especially with enhancements. Even recipes, though, are affected -- because even though you can in theory list a stack, you're unlikely to have a stack of a single recipe at a single level.
Which means, unless traffic on an item is pretty high, it's not worth listing it -- you lose more income by losing one of your slots than you will ever get from the item.
There are tons of drops that are getting vendored or deleted because they aren't worth selling, even if they might occasionally be worth a lot to the right buyer.
The main reason I am rolling at 25 is I am willing to slot at that level and my cowardly marketing shows things at levels on the 5s (25, 30, 35, etc) sell faster than the off level ones. While I personally like 32 because I can run my 25-29 Ouroboros' things and get the benefits I don't find it significantly outweighs just getting them at 30. But most of my nonsense is to be able to quickly buy and sell and I find the on the 5s support that best. For max profit you would definitely want to hit level 32 stuff because people who want it will pay for it. You just have to wait for those enlightened buyers. |
locking at 32 also has a couple other advantages over 30. it gets me the use of the tier 9 primary power, even with 1 slot that can be of benefit. but more importantly, it lets me roll some of my merits in the level 35 - 39 group.
but the downside is you are absolutely correct about these off levels not selling well. if I roll something that I don't want for myself, it seldom sells for all that much on the market. so my 50 makes the money, getting everything at max level for sale to others and the 32 and 37 supply me with what I want.
I have some other alts making their way up the levels. though I hadn't really intended to lock any of them, now you have me considering if I should unlock the 32 and let him level up to 35 and lock a new character at 30. it really wouldn't make a lot of difference in the enhancement values on the ones I keep for my use and sounds like it would make selling the ones I don't want more profitable
Ok, I've got my 50 buying level specific recipes.
I've a 25 and a 30 locked and rolling. I have a 34 nearly at 35 and earning A-Merits. All stealthy speed runners, dismissing escourt tips and playing at -1/1 so it only takes about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes per toon.
Gotten a Numina's triple and a Recovery/Regen proc, like 3 Positron's proc's at 25 and fair number of other procs. So far, I would say that I am doing pretty well with the obvious stuff.
I do get a lot of stuff that I'm sure will take a while to sell but I think I will make it and list it anyway. (I know the pain of looking for that sixth part of Trap of the Hunter or Razzle Dazzle at 30) But I also discovered that I have about 300 marketing slots available for marketing so I have slots.
So I am going to use the cost model I outlined above and list sets that I think are good at cost plus an average of the prices at other levels.
Stuff like that is pretty easy to price because there are usually 0 for sale.
My Rule of Zero says anything with 0 for sale is underpriced, so just list higher than the highest price in the 'last 5'. If you're in a hurry, list for a few million more. If you don't mind waiting for a bigger profit, double or triple the highest price. Buyer impatience has trumped my ridiculous markup in every instance so far.
