Mobs scared spitless of Scrappers?

I'd been leveling up a couple scrappers (Spines/Fire, Elec/Inv) before i18. When GR went live I rerolled the Spines/Fire to make him Praetorian.

I just recently started playing them again in the past few days and every time I go into a mob, solo, they take a couple swings at me and then they all scatter in every direction. Doesn't matter if I have a taunt aura on or anything like that... they just run. It's really frustrating, I don't remember them doing this before.

Anyone else have this issue? It is driving me nuts.

Edit: They don't do this to my tanks or brutes or even to my Arch/NRG blaster.

You don't have a taunt aura as a Spines/Fire.

The /Inv should be fine with Invincibility on though.

Yeah, I'm aware of the taunts... but even with Invincibility the mobs scatter like crazy. I mean I walk into them, hit an attack or two and without even killing the mobs they scatter and just run all-out away.

Edit: Meant the punchvokes, not the aura. Yeah, Invincibility still scatters them like crazy. I first noticed it in AE, so I did a couple paper missions. Same thing. Had a friend try it on his Spines/Willpower, and another on his MA/Fire scrapper. Same thing happened (in both AE and normal missions). No idea why it's happening.

My belief:

It's because mobs that are debuffed have a much higher chance of running. Your slow debuff in spines sends them running. You see the same thing with the -defense in the sword sets and the -to hit in dark. I have noticably fewer runners with MA.

It's cause they have some common sense! You're a scrapper fer Chrissakes, they know what you have planned for them!

hmmm...I haven't noticed this lately with either my DM/SD scrapper or my BS/Nin Stalker.

The more people I meet, the more I'm beginning to root for the zombies.

Wait wait wait... there are scrappers that PLAN things?

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

I'll echo that. My sole level 50 scrapper is a BS/Regen, and things just *scatter* after a slice or whirling sword. It actually gets me killed against hard hitting non-lethal ranged attackers like Rikti or Arachnos. In melee, where I want them, Parry makes me a god. A spawn scattering, turning, and blasting has me reaching for one of the heals every time.

Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."

That does seem weird, Invincibility is supposed to have a taunt component as strong as AAO from /SD, which should be enough to keep the mobs sticked to you even through debuffs/dots/grief etc

There's a Castle post about this... ahh, here

Critters run away for one of two reasons: A power or script forces them to or their "grief" flag has been set to true.

The Grief flag gets set to true when the enemy's morale breaks. Morale can break because a team mate died too quickly, or because they cannot attack their enemy effectively. So, if a group of softcapped players AoE nuke half a spawn down, the rest are pretty likely to run away -- a bunch of their team just died AND their odds of being able to retaliate are at minimal levels.

I'm not saying there isn't a problem; I am giving you, the players, more information regarding how it works internally. You should also know that runners are a part of the game and eliminating that aspect of the game isn't really likely to happen.
Seems to me lately that as soon as a scrapper walks into a room "morale breaks."

Or the enemies aren't running away at all and are instead deciding that they'll take less damage from range so they get out of melee and revert to ranged attacks.

I don't know, obviously. I'm sick of it happening as well.

Be well, people of CoH.

This would seem to make sense. Especially since you usually start off with build up/ AS and the like, causing the first guy or two to go down fast, which would activate the grief flag. Not saying that this shouldn't be looked at, but...

Having a similar issue with my Dark Melee/Fiery Aura. I have to follow anything that isn't dead after I drop Burn. . .
