So I started a bots traps, now should I go with Scorp Shield or Frozen Armor with Hoarfrost?

Dark Embrace from Soul Mastery is the best shield, giving Res to 4 different damage types, but Frozen Armor/Hoarfrost is definitely a good choice, too.

Scorpions shield if you have the patience to do the missions.

Once you pick frozen armor you are stuck to looking like ( insert color here ) ice cube all the time. You could have the greatest costume in the game. It still gonna look like carp because you a giant ice cube.

You can now do the missions for any patron you want and get access to all the PPPs. In other words, you're not locked into the PPP of the patron whose missions you complete.

It used to be you were indeed locked into that Patron until you respecked. Has that changed now?

Once you run someone's patron arc you can pick from any patron pool - for example I could run Mako's first arc when I hit 40 so by the time I'm 41 I can pick from any of the four pools.

Regarding Mace vs Ice: unless you really love AoE immobilizes and Power Boost (the first is really nice for PvE, the second not so much), and dislike your costume being obscured (lol), Ice is an absolute no-brainer here.

The one good thing about scorp shield though is that you don't have to select any of the other powers from the pool to get it. Plus it means I can soft cap to S/L and Elec.

So then I guess the real question is Aid Self vs Hoarfrost since both require that I take another power to get them.

I think I just talked myself into Scorps Shield.

Well, Hoarfrost not only heals you, but raises your max health. But on the downside it's an ancillary, meaning you won't get it til late in char's career.

Yeah and also as an ancillary power it has a really long recharge

Yeah, but it also gives resistance, too.

If you want toxic resistance then take Dark Embrace

Hoarfrost has a 540 sec timer with a 120 sec duration.

Go ahead and try to make that perma.

Plus it will heal you once every 2 1/2 minutes, whereas Aid Self can Heal 40% of your health every 7 seconds. Hmmmmm.......

I found that even taking the GW Res Shield that you can easily soft cap your AoE and Ranged def and still have a respectable 35% to Melee. Not to mention that with the build I had you get 66.4 Res to S/L and 28.3 To Negatic and 26.4 to Toxic.
