Help on earth/elec
Thanks to everyones help on these forums i started my earth/elec dominator. Im loving it so far just hit level 12 tonight. I have been trying to make a build to follow while leveling up, but I just can't do it. I don't know anything about either set or how they work together. An don't really know much about Dominator builds in general. I like to solo more, but i do team from time to time when I get bored. I was just wondering if a few of you could ether make me a leveling build or just list what powers should be taken and which ones should be avoided. Also i was wondering at what level should i get Hasten,and stam. So far i feel my play style is kind of like a scrapper or blapper. I like being in melee range holding bosses and lieutenants, then using my attacks till kill everything.
I couldn't find any earth/elec example builds. i tryed using the earth/ and /elec ones but they only confused me more Thanks Swinci |
Controls to take - fossilize, QS, EQ, Stalagmites, Volcanic Gases, Stoney pet [6 powers]
Assault powers to take - charged bolts (you have to), charged brawl, havoc punch, thunderstrike, BU, voltaic sentinel (it's another pet, it does damage, you can summon it in melee, and you're not focusing on range, so why not?) [6 powers]
Pools - fitness (hurdle, health, stamina), travel (which one will depend on your account's status and willingness to use temp powers... you might want to toss Air Superiority in here for a melee attack, or go toward SS because of next power), Hasten, fighting (Boxing and Tough). [8 powers max]
Epics - I'd lean toward either fire or ice if you don't have a theme in mind. Both have a pair of targeted AoE attack/debuffs that'll work in melee or range, both have an armor. Fire gives you a rez in case you die. Ice gives you hibernoob to phase and recover. [4 powers]
Please buff Ice Control.
Im goin to hafe to pick up either Stone Cages or Lighting bolt, at level 4. Then have 7 powers from one set which throws if off.
Was wondering if this would work? i didn't slot anything ill figure that out later.Ill probly respect at 24 and redo it, but will this b good till then?

The shield is fine. But then you go with God Mode. Not sure why. You should already have all the protection you need with controls, 2 shields and pet. Then, you go and pick the healing pet on top of that. Overkill if you ask me.
I'd take the shield, power sink for the instant end recovery/drain and ball lightning to give you some more AoE and up close dmg potential.
I just don't think you'll get enough mileage from the god mode and healing pet to bother.
Please buff Ice Control.
I guess I'm a little bit late to this thread, but this is how my Earth/Electric Dominator is shaping up. I recently did a minor respec, mostly to my post-40 choices (because it slightly affected what I'd done pre-40, but not much). Here is my build. I hope it is helpful. It is a perma-hasten build, but the power picks and slotting choices are exactly how I slot as I level up. So yes, this is a perma-hasten, perma-dom leveling-up build.
Maybe it will give you some ideas, maybe not, but here ya go.

Just some quick notes:
You need to take Stalagmites and Earthquake much sooner, typically as soon as they are available. You can definitely delay Hasten until after you get Stamina, because it really needs lots of endurance to work well.
Lightning Bolt is more useful for levelling up, but Stone Prison is more useful in the AV-heavy late game.
I don't recommend the Fighting pool. Earth Control provides plenty of survivability, and Tough isn't worth the endurance it costs. Other things like stealth powers and Recall Friend are generally more useful, or you might even feel the need for a little AoE from Static Discharge.
I don't usually think about Epic powers until reaching lvl 41, and with 8 different pools to choose from, it will really depend on what you want to do. However, I do really like Surge of Power and it's the reason my main character won't be using the new APPs.

if you want to thunderstrike i would take cages and even then the aoe damage from is tiiny. radial kb is blah
Hmm i didn't know anything about PPp's just took the ones that looked cool lol. But thanks for everyones help at least i got a good idea about what work and what dosnt. This will make leveling easier and funner.

I agree with this so much. I always see earth controllers take cages but there's no reason to when quicksand is a superior skill.
