Best Duo Comp for MM

Hey all! Wife and i just started playing when rogue came out (love the game btw). I was curious what would you all reccomend for a duo team, for mastermind gameplay. We were thinking maybe demon/dark? or Thug/dark? We are open to any and all suggestions!
The mastermind gameplay looks like alot of fun, we currently have a duo comp of dual empathy/sonic defender which is a blast : ).

Honestly, switch it up. I'd recommend one of you playing a Thugs/Pain and the other playing a Demon/Dark. Great survivability, wide range of damage types, excellent debuffs.

If you really want to go same, both of you should roll a Demon/ or Thugs/Dark. You really can't go wrong with /Dark.


My guides:Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul Mastery, Illusion Control/Kinetics/Primal Forces Mastery, Electric Armor
"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."

Yeah my wife is a huge fan of the demons lol, i was just worried about good secondaries. Ive heard traps is the way to go and didnt want to end up gimping ourselves. We both love the idea of the heals in the secondary thats why i was worried about traps.

I'll give you my opinion and again this is just my opinion… I've made several Masterminds in the past and I have to say that my all time favorite was Thugs/Dark, I played it exclusively when Thugs first came out and leveled it all the way to 50. I still find myself playing it a lot.

Now I’m working on a Demons/Thermal and I'm at level 38 now and loving it, she crossed over to the good side and became a Hero. (my first Hero MM…BTW) But I play solo 99% of the time, so I've not had any problems with survivability or whatnot, but I'm loving my Demons/Thermal, you could try that if you like.

Both sound like alot of fun! Thanks Marsha_Mellow, might hafta give the demons a try just cause they are new :P One of the reasons we were favoring thugs is cause someone said the 2nd pet has a leadership buff that stacks? I could very easily be wrong lol , Iam a newb

Thugs do indeed have leadership, and they do indeed stack. You can get lots of extra defense and damage from having 2 thug users, but don't let that dictate your choices. My opinion is "fun first!"

Traps is not a gimp set, built and played correctly it can be very powerful but the corr and defender versions are much better.

I second someone's opinion for a therm/dark combo. Dark for control and debuffing, therm for shields, heals and extra debuffs. Either way, two masterminds are gonna be steamrolling, so whatever you choose will be super fun.

Thanks for the great suggestion, its hard comming from a game like WoW, where you hafta spec a certain way to raid,pve,pvp. Its so nice comming to a game with a laid back class choice. Im sure there are the min/max builds, but the general consensus seems that any class/build is good

I've found it pretty frustrating playing dual MMs. I'd actually sort of suggest doing MM/something-else. If you both want to play MMs, each of you can have a something-else to play with the other's MM.

Personally, I love dual masterminds (or more) teams. For a dedicated duo, I'd suggest two Thugs. The enforcer leadership powers apply to all Thugs you team with. All the Thugs can be at ~40% defense by level 24. The enforcer's leadership powers do not affect the two MMs though. I'd then pair a secondary with team mez protection such as /Traps or /Force Field and then something that has a heal (lots of options). I am in a duo of Thugs/Traps and Thugs/Pain and it's awesome at level 18.

I'd still suggest one play a Solder of Arachnos for their Tactical Training toggles along with the Leadership Pool
