Satoshi Kon ...
Everyone's still absorbing this sad, sudden news. Kon's next film, The Dreaming Machine, was planned for release next year. Here's hoping his partners at Studio Madhouse can finish it for him.
yikes, that is sad. paranopia agent was one of the big 10 anime series that i mention to show the breadth of the genre, he will be missed.
Tragic, I enjoyed most of his films, Perfect Blue is my personal favorite.

It's a sad day. I don't watch nearly as much anime as I used to, but one thing that's never waned has been my love for Satoshi Kon's work. He's one of few people who I'd name as a "favorite director", anime or otherwise, and his passing leaves a gap that won't be easily filled.
I just saw the trailer for the upcoming movie Black Swan and there are aspects of that trailer that screamed Perfect Blue to me.
Kon's passing will leave a hole for psychological thrillers.

Tempus unum hominem manet
Appears to have passed away yesterday at the age of 47 due to cancer. I'm somewhat dubious since the most official source I can find is the Anime News Network and the folks at Otakon. If it is true it's truly a shame. Not only was his work impressive as heck, but 47 is just too young (for anyone really).
