How is Energy Assault as a Secondary ??
I now have energy assault on two of my three dominators. I love it. Especially on my grav/energy as he gets to stay at range in perfect safety with a full ranged attack chain. Unlike energy blast's power push, energy assault's power push does the correct damage for its recharge value. Lock 'em down and blast the snot out of them.
Be well, people of CoH.

Couldn't agree with Billz more. Check out Lili's new guide, it gives the best breakdown of everything Doms have ATM.
It is very light on AOE tho, if that's your thing you should look for another set.
/Energy is very nice since the Dominator buff/rebalance a while back. And while it is indeed low on AoE, that can actually be a benefit with a set that uses Sleep powers; that's why Mind/Energy is another good combo.
Arc #40529 : The Furies of the Earth
One thing to be aware of, Elec/ has a ground targeted control in the sleep field and a PBAE aura, plus the immob does not give -kb like some other sets, so you might have some issues with knocking things out of your fields and auras with /energy. Other then that, I think energy is a great secondary now.
On my elec/ene dom, I am planning to move away from the ranged blasts and more into melee mode. Conductive Aura is just too nice not to play towards its strengths.
Be well, people of CoH.

The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-

I am considering an Electric/Energy/Primal Dominator instead of just going Electric/Electric/Mu.
Any thoughts on Energy Assault? Thank you in advance. |
Right now, Primal mastery's energy transfer behaves wrong, by the way - you can socket it with PBAOE sets, rather than ST ones.
Energy Assaut rocks! Sure it lacks some AoE but I like that. The knockback is great for single targets when you need and the stuns in Bone Smasher and Total Focus are nice as extra control. The damage isn't as good as say /fire but it's still pretty good. I like putting damage procs from a knockback IO set in all of my attacks. Power boost makes just about any control primary better... and I bet Energy Transfer will be fun in conjunction with Total Focus
Energy Assault is a great set for Doms because:
- You can pick your primary to either nullify knockback or not.
- You can use it as an exclusively ranged powerset now that EPPs cover the AOE hole.
- You can cap ranged defense with the set.
- It's the only ranged-heavy set that gives you Power Boost (unlike Fire).
I'm still torn between elec/energy and elec/ice... I think I'll just try both and see what sticks. It does seem like energy encourages more of a range focus, which doesn't take full advantage of the elec aura... but hey you can always put things to sleep and shoot them in the face in melee range.

mind/energy - confuse one, mez another, dominate another, confuse another, levitate and power push those in your face mobs over and over... never gets tiring

That's why I took /Energy. Because I love using KB as mitigation.
@Gilia1
I play heroes on Champion.
I play villains on Virtue.
I just wanted to say I agree with this entire thread. Or all the pro-energy assault posts, which I think is most of them.
I have Earth/Energy at level 43, Fire/Energy at level 50, Gravity/Energy at 40, and I'm working on an Electric/Energy Dom as my first Praetorian.
I LOVE Energy Assault.
Here is my dream build for Electric/Energy/Primal. Keep in mind that there is a bug in Mids' planner (for me) where Energy Transfer is taking PBAOE sets instead of Melee. So, I have an oblit set in the plan but in game I would have Crushing Impact for the same set bonus (in terms of recharge).
