Alternate bios & ID card overhaul

This has been suggested before, mainly in conjunction with costume slots, but I think now is the perfect time for us to have alternate bios for our characters. Not tied to costume slots, but tied to alignment. Four bios, one each for hero, vigilante, rogue, and villain. Por ejemplo:

Hero: "Mr. X was just an ordinary guy when he got superpowers. Now he uses his amazing abilities to protect Paragon City!"

Vigilante: "Fed up with the institutionalized system of 'good' in Paragon, Mr. X began taking matters into his own hands. He still stops the bad guys, but sometimes goes farther than he should."

Villain: "Mr. X now actively works against the forces of Longbow and for the glory of Arachnos!"

Rogue: "Mr. X is still a pretty mean dude but even he draws a line somewhere."

Naturally, only one bio would display at a time. Doing this would probably require a change to the ID card UI that is used to edit your bio, which brings me to my next point...

It's old. Extremely old. It hasn't changed at all since at least I4 (when I started playing) and I'm guessing probably not very much if at all before then. I don't know about you, but my high-level characters have most of their powers pushed off the list by veteran and booster powers which for some reason are added to the list of every character on my account. The fact that the bio editor as it stands is clunky and buggy goes without saying.

*It doesn't need to change that much, to be honest -- filter out garbage like the Sands of Mu and the Prestige Sprints from the power list, and toss it into a panel with a scrollbar so you can actually read the whole list.
*A few more characters for battle cry...please?
*Maybe need to be able to switch between alternate bios. Only the bio for your current alignment would be visible under /info, but I think it would probably be preferable to be able to edit all 4 regardless of what your current alignment is.

And that's it, really. A minor visual redesign might not be bad either, putting it more in line with newer interfaces and environments.

"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill

Part of the supposed reason why the Devs never wanted to increase our bio text space never had anything to do with pure disk space. The problem was that they had to worry about network download speeds. Basically every time you get close to another character in game the game has to download all the info for that character so that you can access it, including bio text.

But now that we have the alignment concept I can see where we can get around that problem with your suggestion. All the game would have to do is check your alignment flag and only download the bio appropriate to your alignment. I see no overwhelming reason why we couldn't get at least 1023 character long bio spaces for each alignment that way.

Ultimately, this is nothing one can't do with a simple copy & paste, unless one plans on changing alignment extremely frequently (within the confines of the system). Personally, I think the idea of having a bio related to costumes (hero w/ secret identity) makes more sense, but that's just my personal opinion.

Ironically I would not want to "cut-n-paste" because I still have some old bios that have some legacy Unicode in them.
If I ever change them I'll finally lose that Unicode.

How's that jibe with the "loading description..." text that shows up whenever you open someone's info window, if it was automatically loaded whenever they came close enough?

Also /loadbio and /savebio commands would probably solve the original problem.

Overhaul the UI, sure.
Let me click on a line to select something, rather than the god damned cursor doing whatever it god damed wants!
Seriously, text boxes have been narfed since I14 came out. You have to make judicious use of click, re-clicking, scrolling with the arrow keys, swearing cos the damn thing just skipped to the end again, nearly losing your rag when it refuses to enter a new line/backspace, and- you get my drift.

That, and the UI is kinda boring these days. /Signed to that overhaul

Fix the UI? Are you crazy? Last time they did that, they broke the help channel.

Leave bad enough alone.

I don't know. I don't think I've ever had a network connection slow enough to see that.

But in all seriousness it doesn't really matter. That information has to be downloaded to your machine at some point and network bandwidth is an issue of concern -whenever- that data moves.

Having /loadbio and /savebio commands might be a good "band-aid" for this situation, but ultimately the whole bio text editor situation needs to be overhauled. Giving us more text space (in some form or fashion) would be a part of that.

Oh and if the above is done can we (I want it anyway) please have a command (eg: /change_battlecry) to change the battle cry without having to go into the stupid window.
