Who decided to put forced single player only missions in the middle of Petorian arcs?

This.
Give me TFs that can be ran solo, with Elite Bosses in place of AVs, and I'll find some sympathy for those complaining about the forced soloing in GR. Until then... /shrug.

I had the exact same experience in the Hollows back in the day, and while I did run the mini TF ONCE, after that it seemed pointless to ever run those missions again. The method people were using to beat the Cave of Transcendence was extremely efficient, and also extremely boring for 6 - 7 of the 8 people you had to have.
I like teaming when I feel like it, but often I don't. One of the things that makes CoX my MMORPG of choice is that you can solo it, to the "end" (50), even though you do miss all the TF content, which is a shame.
I love a certain fantasy MMO because it brought to life the world of a wonderful set of books, but you can't solo it and get to the best content. Period. I'll never see the best areas unless I tag along with a higher level player.

I agree that there shouldn't be forced team content from regular contacts. (ie: simultaneous clickies.) Despite the fact that this is an MMO. Some of us do not care to team with just any Joe (or Jane) that happens to come by. Sometimes, those that we would team with aren't available. Personally, I seriously dislike PuGs. I will, on occasion, join a PuG. Usually, when I'm feeling masochistic. Simultaneous clicky missions are a roadblock to my solo gaming experience. just as much as morality missions are roadblocks to your team gaming experience.
If you wish to do away with forced solo content. Then do away with the forced teaming content (from regular contacts) as well. It's as simple as that.

There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"
You think this is bad? On my first hero I solo'd the entirety of the Hollows, working my way up through all of the story arcs, only to find that the culmination of the entire zone was a task force with a minimum requirement of 8 players. A truly dismal anticlimactic end to 10 levels of the game that I had, up to that point, greatly enjoyed.
Forced soloing is, and always will be, less of a problem than forced teaming. Imagine if Praetoria's storyline ended with a TF with a minimum requirement of 4 or 6 people. Easy enough to do now, but good luck putting a team together for that in 6 months time when everyone is running Incarnate missions or whatever the new shiny is.
I hate running story focused missions or task forces on teams, because everyone's always in such a damn hurry to gogogogospeedrunftw! that it's impossible to follow the plot. I've ran Imperious a couple of times, Katie Hannon once, Lord Recluse once and Reichsman once... and in every single case I had to find out what I'd just done by reading the summary on the wiki afterward. Reichsman is particularly imcomprehensible unless you're leading the team.
