Lost Character Slots!

The exact same thing happened to me! I spent real money unlocking that character slot, I am NOT happy about it going missing...

What's even more ridiculous is that the slot that went locked is one of the original 12, not one I added. I can somewhat understand extra slots having this issue when the store is down but not an original slot.
Also ridiculous is the lack of any response from the Dev's to any of the multiple threads about this issue... yeah, it's late, but some of them have got to be online, what with the whole 'expansion launching today' thing and all... Even a "we're looking into this" would be nice... although a "To make up for this, we'll be allowing free server transfers for the next few days, so you can go make a character on another server and move them over once we fix this" would be even nicer.... hint hint...
Well, they are having free transfers this week anyway so you could do that. But the people I want to play with aren't on those servers.
Gee thanks devs, I finally get home from work, delete 2 toons before i realize whats going on now I can't make new ones, what a waste of my time.

It's smart enough to know that when the store server is down and you have more than 12 characters on a server that there must have been slots assigned to that server. However deleting a character and freeing up one of the over 12 slots means that the game can't ask the store where the extra slots you have paid for or were rewarded are assigned (or not assigned yet) so voila, it's gone until the store is up. It's been this way since they introduced extra slots to this game.
Should purchased slots be like booster codes, yes. Is it a poor, at least annoying design considering all the store downtime recently, yes. Do we need 5 threads on this, no but I understand the need to vent.

I wouldn't have started a new thread if I'd seen one of the other ones but in a quick scan of the first page or so of threads I didn't. I assumed it was a newly occuring issue because right after deleting the old toon I was able to use the slot. It was when I thought to go back and check names that I got locked out. Also, I've never encountered or heard of this issue before tonight. Thanks for you input though.
This is a really annoying issue. Brand new sets come out and I can't play them on either of my home servers. Now I'm stuck on some server I don't play.

The Devs don't read the tech/bug board, often, it's meant for players assisting players and players warning players about problems. You want to register a complaint, /bug it, PM theOcho or Avatea and they can pass on the concern.
What's better, a front page topic with lots of individuals confirming a problem or one that's simply the most recent of five identical topics with only a handful of posts?

This must be an issue related to the store being down because the other sever where I had added slots, some of which were still available are also locked so I can't make new characters there either.
