  1. Gee thanks devs, I finally get home from work, delete 2 toons before i realize whats going on now I can't make new ones, what a waste of my time.
  2. My question is--when did Marcus Cole, the ranger from Babylon 5, turn into Tyrant?
  3. Well, it had been a while, and I noticed I had endurance reduction enhancments in place but it wouldn't take them, maybe my stalker won't suck (endurance) so much after all
  4. It's been a while since I played on the villain's side, a long, loooong time. So when did they make it so you can't put endurance reduction enhancements in the hide power of stalkers? Since you already (at least in regen and willpower) loose you quick recovery power for hide in the secondary power set, this has bad news written all over it.

My stalker now sucks to much endurance and I'm going to have to respec and rearrange enhancments (loosing good ones in attacks for endurance reduction) grrrrrrrrrr

Why does everyone insist on getting more level bumps? I'm actully glad that CoH doesn't resort to adding more levels just to add more content.

Do people not realize that all they're really asking for is something to do when you reach 50. That's all a level bump is for in other games because they really don't know how to add new content to the game without bumping the levels. So you don't really get anything new in the lower levels you just get more leveling to do. Big deal, WOW goes to 80 now I belive, I really don't care.

I can't even get past 12 in WOW because there's freaking nothing to do in the lower levels, the most interesting thing in that game is the little movie that plays when you first make your character after that it's just a bunch of randomly clicking on contacts and randomly killing things because they're game engine doesn't even tell you where you need to go and all the quests are outdoor hunts.

WoW really doesn't have more content, it just has more levels. I know many people who play that game and they're just doing the same damn things every time I see them play. From 1-70 was nothing but hunting.

CoH/V we many only go to 50 but we do have WAY more content and things to do. It's not just about leveling, it's about haveing fun on the way there, actully haveing something to do, and once you get there, you still have stuff to do. (at least on the hero side, there's still entire zones I haven't been in yet after 5 years. Villains is still majorly lacking in content. My first MM actully completed every contact in the game before hitting 50. Allthough new contacts have been added sence then.)

Anyway, I'd rather have a consistant level cap and get more content than have nothing to do and a hier level cap. I can't keep buisy just by doing 500 hunt missions in a row, and then sit around waiting for a level bump to make me start playing again.

I don't need to level to give me insentive to keep playing, I just need something to do which WoW really doesn't offer.

WoW Make a character that looks exactly like every other character, enter game, now what? Talk to the guys with ? over their heads. Now what? Kill things.

CoH/V Make a custome character, enter game, and oh my gawd everything is actully self exsplanitory. You know where to go, what to do, and not every mission is exactly the same.

Yeah both games are rather repetative but it's not as bad when it's, hunt, kidnap, defeat all, find blinky, ect. as apposed to just Hunt, Hunt, Hunt, Hunt, Hunt. Seriously 80 levels of just hunting, how does that not get boring?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can't speak for WOW but LOTR in Hunt, kidnap, defeat all, rescue, get blinkie. ANd there are way, way, waaaay more missions than any one toon can do.

The can add new zones and side switching better graphics till they are blue in the face, but I can tell what most of my 50's will do in any situation in advance, they have become stagnant, they aren't growing.

Unless the game gives me some meaningful way to let my 50's grow, be it more levels or something else, not even going rogue will keep my interest for more than a couple of weeks.

There isn't one hero mission I haven't done at least once (and the warshade string is probably the only ones i've done only once) there are a few villian missions I haven't done, even so I know the groups I'll be facing, they won't be anything new. Misison Architect was actually kinda neat for a few because you could find yourself facing a level 52 thug dominator will willpower (I hate it when they rez), but in the end, I knew what my toons could and couldn't do. There is no real challange anymore.

Unless there is something more drastic in Going Rogue than mentioned so far, its time to move on.

If this has already been asked I apologize. Is the elvel cap being bumped up, like to 60?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That hasn't been announced, and is highly unlikely given past statements by the devs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wonder sometimes, everytime this question is asked, if an angel doesn't die a horrible death somewhere?

I don't know if it's just me or not, but everytime someone asks about raising the level cap, I'm filled with this unreasoning anger and hatred, and it makes me want to "Go Rogue". I'm not sure if it's a symptom of the way game developers have, over the years conditioned MMO players to expect the level caps of every game to rise with the release of new expansions, or what. It seems like half of them can't find creative solutions to the end-game problems of their games (probably because they didn't think long enough about what they were going to do when they got there, and just ran up against the wall one day) besides just raising the level cap, adding some powers, putting the players back on the treadmill, and calling it a day.

Take Age of Conan for example, while I like the general idea of the game, and the first 20 or so level are awesome, it becomes quickly apparent that no one thought about what to do after that, except some vague stuff; and they were stupid enough to launch with their level cap at EIGHTY (I can just see them thinking "well heck, WoW already goes up to 70, let's just start at EIGHTY, that'll show 'em!") without actually thinking about having to put CONTENT in those levels.

All of this just makes me happy CoH has been done the way it has, that we continue to get content, but don't have to deal with a constantly raising bar invalidating half of what we do.

    Thank you Devs.

I have 27 level 50 toons, most of them just gather dust. Why, the developers do not give me anything that will expand the toons horizons. Cimmorora or whatever it is called, so what, my toon do the same stuff against slightly differing baddies, yawn. Orobouros and Mission Architect have their good points, but they are symptons of the problem.

My toons are stagnat, they are not growing. When the best thing that has happened is day jobs and veteren rewards, there is something wrong. Side switching and updated graphics won't fix that. Ditto the 5th Column. The new areas won't do anything that I can see.

A new power set my get my interst for a while, but realistically, I'm tired of playing my level 50's, they are getting boring. I want them to expand and grow--and if COH can't deliver soon, my 3 accounts are gone. Other games don't have difficulty giving toons new powers after level 50. There are technical reason why doing it would be difficult, the developers have entrenched themselves pretty firmly at 50, they seem determined to make their last stand there.

I have a levell 50 fire/willpower tank with all io set enhancments that cannot be killed by Babbage, Palidin, Eochai and the kraken that I know of, she can't kill them either by herself. If the developers can't give me some way to grow and some challanges, I might as well park her with the other 50's I don't use. By NOT giving me a path do develop my toons further, they have invalidated 95% of the work I've done.

I don't want to after 5 years, but I took a free trial of Lord of the Rings and haven't looked back, maybe after 5 years it will be boring to, but right now, my level 46 hunter is getting close to the mines of moria and after 2 years we'e abut half way through the first book.

.. and the inability to set/enter homogeneous hero or villain missions while players are out of zone. These aren't even listed as known issues, which makes me wonder... why?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm gonna guess that this isn't a "bug" in the developers eyes because the game knows everyone isn't in the same zone and says so. I'm think the developers did this on purpose to nerf the mission teleoprter. It is highly annoying
  8. I think there is a disconnect between the players and the developers. The developers are (have to be) interested in game play issues. The players, especially those with many toons hitting 50, have to find ways to make the game continue to be fun for them.

For many, like me, badge hunting is the path to fun. And us badges have taken some hits lately (have you tried to get the Volcanic Badge since they sissified The Hollows?) The Reformed Badge (and it associated Longbow Special Ops Badge) and the Fabricator Badge are severely infuriating events to us and to more than a few, they are nails in the coffin.

I don't think the developers understand or appreciate it. And I have the really bad gut feeling that if they do try to placate the badges they are going to make it worse

As far as I know Red Name refers to Devs. The Devs typed this very information ON THE BADGE.

REFORMED: Once you were considered a villain, but now you walk the path of the straight and Narrow.

    There is your quote.

    [ QUOTE ]
Show me 1 redname quote just 1 that specifically says the the reformed badge was specifically for switching sides and I would agree. However you can't. I KNOW you can't because that quote does not exist as of this writing. Most of those other badges were acquired with exactly the same amount of metagaming so they are just as "unintended" to get.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Let me make one thing absolutely clear--Captain Detrich of the Longbow most certainly considered my level 50 tank Fireperson Eileen a villain and most certainly considers her to be on the up and up now, the TEXT isn't inaccurate, that badge title might be a bit off, but this isn't metagaming this is the reality of Gaussian's story arc.

Edited because I somehow left one instance of the word "certainly" out of the last paragraph.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Fixed a bug where heroes would see the Villain/Reformed badge progress bar. This badge should be completely unobtainable by heroes. Those players already with the badge will keep the badge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Its becoming increasingly clear that 50 is as high as we are getting in this game and as such we need to find things for our 50's to do. Ouroboros is ok for short stuff but kind of a pain for longer strings, Cimerora doesn't thrill me at all although I haven't tried this issue (although nothing I've heard has made me want to rush back there) so On a couple of my 50's I'm trying to get as many badges as I can. Now I am being told that a badge (actually 2 badges--Longbow Special Ops gladiator) that has been around for over 2 years and 7 complete issues is no longer available. But that people who already have the badge(s) get to keep them. So no matter what I do I will NEVER be able to catch up even in theory because I was about 6 days to late to get the badge. I think after a certain length of time there should be some kind of statute of limitations that a badge really exist.

When I quit the game (Unless Issue 14 has something to grab my interest I don't think its a question of "If I quit the game") this will be at the top of my list of reasons, I worked hard to get that badge then found out I was a couple of days to late to get a badge that had been around for a looooooong time.
