I've been stuck on
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS
AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core 5200+
2.00 GB of Ram
for a couple years now and it runs CoH fine.
You run the game on high end graphics? and does this "Ultra Graphics" thing actually make alot of difference, i daren't attempt it, my Laptop sounds like a Helicopter taking off as it is when playing....

I like to see a moderate amount of shadows in game, but not so much that I have to turn up brightness of gamma just to see what is under that shadow. I keep the old graphics options set to High normally, with the slider bars at about 80-90% to the right (just before they turn red) and run at about 80fps. Recently I've turned on the water/reflective effects because I like how shiny it looks, which pulls me down to about 60fps, but that's ok to me. The only time I ever go below these settings is if I'm loading 3 or more accounts. >.>

I run on pretty much max settings with 2 exceptions: FSAA is 8x instead of 16 of 32 (they both take off about 10 frames with each increase), and occlusion strength: I leave at normal. Strong and Strong with color Bleeding hit the frames pretty hard. I run at 30+ frames on 1 account, and if I run at minimum settings, It's closer to 140ish fps.

This is a well-timed thread, as I too am contemplating a computer purchase - mostly because the one of my older computers that my wife has been using is on its last legs, but while I'm buying one computer, why not more? (I'm actually thinking of three: a basic one for her, an uber gaming one for me and a latop that either of us could use. Yes, this is what tax refunds can do for you...)
But I have an additional question for some of those who responded to date: why do you have TWO monitors? What do you use them for? Do you recommend that set-up to enhance the gaming experience?
Ryxx; heh, I have that exact same Armor case.

Speakers are recently upgraded M-Audio AV30 Studiophile replacing the ancient and terribly buzzy Logitechs I had.
It's an older rig, but I still run pretty much every game that comes out at 1600x1200 and with the quality settings cranked up.
But why two monitors?
Why?
WHY???

tl;dr Multitasking.
A better question is: Why not?
I'm actually seriously jealous of Ele's case. He bought his a couple months ago, and mine is over a year old. His handles cable management and airflow WAY better than mine.
Shamster: I am seriously jealous of your desk. I have ALWAYS wanted a good wraparound desk, but I am too cheap to buy one, or I don't have enough room for one.

After doing that, you can have your vent/steam/xfire channel open (or your AIM/yahoochat/ skype/etc), a browser, mids' hero designer (or two or three), any media player, and still see your tuning utility software for monitoring temps and CPU/Mem usage.
My second screen is actually a TV. so I can has playstation (or Obama) and CoX at the same time :O

Ok admittedly I have a TV on my desk as well. I guess I could use a second screen for that. Or use a second display for a second game/other software. Is such a thing easy to set up?
Well, seems after like 6 years my laptop is finally starting to tire when it comes to playing CoX and other games. Wondering what sort of rigs everyones running out there and what sort of Gfx settings there playing on. Also which Processors/Graphics cards does everyone recommend for running CoX at full level but that isnt going to rip my wage packet into shreds.
Whats peoples opinions....
