color coded bid amounts?

it wouldn't bother me, but I wouldn't find it helpful either.
IMHO the market interface has much bigger problems to address just now...

I find it easier to count the number of clicks instead I do instead of the numbers on the screen after typing. Basically, I know that if I clicked number keys 6 times, I'm in the 100k-999k range. If I clicked number keys 8 times I'm in the 10-99mil range. Then all I have to know is the first or maybe first few numbers to get all the meaningful data out of the bid. That's just me, though.

I think a better idea would be to have the 'large market fee warning' work a bit better. The user should be able to set the inf amount that will trigger the warning. Also, the bloody thing should stay off when you turn it off!

I have to agree that there are bigger issues. Patience and double checking what you type vs. what your keyboard thinks you wanted to type vs. what the game really wants to rob from you only takes a few seconds.
Besides, what about colorblind people?
(And for <Insert Deity or Proper Name Here>'s sake, Fix the 'large market fee warning' so it stays OFF! or can be set to your predetermined value.)

I applaud what you're trying to do here but I'm not sure it'd help me much. On the other hand, it should be easy to implement and it might help some people so maybe it's worth while.
What I'd really like is a warning that tells me I've stuck and extra 0 on the end of the price.
Maybe a warning could pop up if the bid is more than 3x the average of the last five sales and also more than 1,000,000 inf. (Prices vary too much on the cheap stuff.)
I'd just like the "you're about to pay loads" popup to work with bids, too. Currently it only seems to work with listing items...

As I was staring at a bid amount trying to count the commas and digits as they blurred before my eyes, it occurred to me that color coding would ease my eye strain and reduce the risk of bid mistakes. Has this been suggested before and rejected? How hard would it be to implement? Would you find this option helpful?
For discussion purposes the following is a possible color coding scheme:
Purple: 1 billion +
Dark Orange: 100,000,000 thru 999,999,999
Medium Orange: 10,000,000 thru 99,999,999
Light Orange: 1,000,000 thru 9,999,999
Dark Yellow: 100,000 thru 999,999
Medium Yellow: 10,000 thru 99,999
Light Yellow: 1,000 thru 9,999
White: 1 thru 999 if anyone
