Maxing out HPs for Willpower Tank
Yes it is possible to get over 3k hit points on a Willpower tank. Instead of focusing on sets that give you +regen, focus on sets that give you +hp. The nice thing about that is the more hp's you have the more regen you'll get as a side benefit.
Make sure you get the following Accolades as well as they give you hit point bonuses for a bit little bit of work: Freedom Phalanx Reserve, Task force Commander, and Portal Jockey. Those three Accolades alone will add close to 375 hps to your base.
Addendum: Taking and switching out a build I'd done for a WP/ELM tank to WP/DM and focusing on +hp I can push the tanks HP total to over 3200. This does include the accolades I mentioned being toggled on.

Definitely not hard. At level 50, your base hit points is 1874.
First, you want High Pain Tolerance. If I'm reading the numbers right, it adds 20%, half of which is enhanceable.
Then your accolades add another 20%.
I didn't go nuts IO'ing for hit points since I also wanted some defense, regen, recovery and accuracy, so I only have 19.5% to hit points.
Result: 3146 hit points.
If you really focused on the hit point bonuses, you could easily get to 3212.

my WP tanker is at 2998 hps and i didn't even build her for high hps. i figure i slot one more set of kin combat and she'll break 3k.

That right there gives you five 4-slot Numina Sets, which in turn synergizes impressively and gives you (combined):
+60% Regeneration (not counting the Procs!)
+9.4% Health
+30% Healing (which supercharges High Pain Tolerance for even MORE of a HP boost!)
This combo will pretty easily get you within striking distance of the HP cap. Get some more +HP mods (not hard to do) in your attacks and you'll be there.
You can get even more Regeneration (if you want to) by 2-slotting Triage sets along with all the 4-slot Numina's, which will add another +4% Regeneration each. You can also 2-slot Pounding Slugfest (melee set) into your attacks for +8% Regeneration each.
That right there gives you five 4-slot Numina Sets, which in turn synergizes impressively and gives you (combined): +60% Regeneration (not counting the Procs!) +9.4% Health +30% Healing (which supercharges High Pain Tolerance for even MORE of a HP boost!) |
1) It's a passive +HP power, not an active Healing power. The +Heal bonuses only work on powers that give you a green number over your head.
2) HPT provides resistance, and the +Healing bonuses don't work on powers that also offer a resistance element to them. Case in point: Healing Flames.

As others have said, getting max hp on a wp tank is not difficult. For quite a bit of influence, you can get a wp tank that even has *max hp and capped s/l defense. Offensively, this build is not very potent, but defensively, it is very well build IMO.
*technically, 6 hp away from cap, but will not be a visible difference.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the +Healing bonuses shouldn't affect HPT for two reasons:
1) It's a passive +HP power, not an active Healing power. The +Heal bonuses only work on powers that give you a green number over your head. 2) HPT provides resistance, and the +Healing bonuses don't work on powers that also offer a resistance element to them. Case in point: Healing Flames. |

Note that the +Max HP in High Pain Tolerance is actually composed of two components ... one of which is not enhanceable ... and one of which is enhanceable. The enhanceable portion of +Max HP is increased by Heal Enhancements, and gobal +Heal from set bonuses counts towards this.

Yes it does. There should be a button called "View Totals". Click it and then mouse over your Max hp bar in the totals window.

Some time ago I read a thread on WP tanks that was entitled (I think) "Building the Monster". If memory serves, there was advice in it which suggested that it was possible to amass about 3,000 hit points for a WP tank.
I recently began experimenting with the IO enhancement set system. I've got a couple of Numena's in two powers and a two Freebird's in flight which have boosted my regeneration up by 32%. However, my hit points hover around 2400 no matter what I've done.
So the question is, "How can I approach that magic 3000 hit point mark for my Willpower/Dark Melee tank?"
Or is it simply not possible to reach it?
