I'd love to buy a carnie one myself -- I have a few people looking as I offered 2B for one.....but no luck so far. I doubt thats the going rate but I have so much infamy I don't know what to do with it anyhows.
No idea how to be sure its legit other than to know the people who will offer it to you.
i didnt know their was a going rate as when u apply the code its on ur account perma- or u talking about physical codes tht someone got from a convention etc..which in tht case....urll pretty much be out of luck soz.
They sell on e-bay occasionally, especially right after a convention where they're handed out. Expect to pay a fair amount, though -- there's one ghoul code up right now, and the current bid is $76 with over a day to go. I've never seen one go for a price I'd be willing to pay, even if I could apply a US code to my account. I assume this is why most people don't want to sell them for pixel money.

Figured it was worth a shot. Shame that they do not offer up some con goodness via snail mail or special edition packs for those of us who either live too far from any they set up at or work the sort of jobs that keep you busy all of the time (which mine tends to do pretty well, even on my days "off").
Looking for a Knives of Artemis costume code since I have not managed to make it to any sort of comic/fantasy convention in about 20 years.
What is the going rate? How do I know the code is good before giving up inf, recipes, whatever first?
