I just did a similiar thing early this morning bidding before I had enough caffeine. I was moving between searches on salvage and I dropped I think 50 million on a masterwork weapon. It is one of those things that just kills the gaming mood for that session.
But I walked away thinking that someone out there got a nice treat.
I will now be in much less of a hurry and do a second check before I bid.
