Enhancement level font?
Which would also make it harder to figure out what's going wrong. Bugs that only happen to some people are extremely hard to find when the 'some people' don't include any developers.

They both are from the same monitor. The reason the widescreen one has bigger numbers is because it has more pixels to render them.
What are the resolutions on these monitors? The widescreen one has small but readable numbers, while the 4:3 numbers are unreadable.

The 4:3 was taken in a 1024x768 window, on a 1920x1080 resolution 16:9 monitor.
The 16:9 was taken at 1920x1080, fullscreen mode.

Aggelakis, not everyone reads every post you make. If you get tired of posting the same thing time and time again then you can choose not to do so.

Especially in the tech forum, there have been TONS of posts about the level size label on enhancement fonts. I don't expect people to look at MY post history, but I do expect people to search for already-existent threads on their topic. I've posted those images in most of them.
Of course, expecting people to search is pretty silly of me, since it seems to happen so rarely.

Multiple someones have mentioned it, /bug'd it and PM'd about it, see this thread from April when it first changed.
And if they looked fine on the Dev's monitor, then they wouldn't realize that there was an issue until someone mentioned it, in this case, multiple someones.
|
I would hope they actually look at this on more than just their dev machines as it seems to be worse under some resolutions than others. Personally, I can hardly read them on my machine (1440x900 on a 19" widescreen monitor).

It made respec'ing my level 50 scrapper the other day really hard work

Well, crap. I'd not seen the images of the non-wide screen and I was dreamin' my lil dreams.
Stop with the ridiculous "more enhancement slot spaces!" theory already, I've pulled these images out at least a dozen times now.

Oh yes. It's all part of the devs plans to go into the prescription eye wear market after ruining all of our eyes with their tiny text.
I too doubt it will be fixed. The silence is extremely obvious.

...
Really? You think they're just going to leave it as is? Just because they're not talking about it doesn't mean it's not being looked at.
Some of us older folks who are dealing with eyes in the process of doing their own adjustments find it hard to read the small stuff. I find it nearly impossible to read the small font.
I probably spend half my game time on a laptop, and it is very hard to see that small font. And I have mis-slotted a couple of times because of it.

Yes... I really really and truly thought it was a conspiracy for eye wear *rolleyes*

And yes, as happy as I would be to have it fixed, I do think the complete absence of redname comment, the lack of being in known bug lists despite being well and truly brought up in beta means it ain't gonna be fixed for a long time if ever.
Where as support for your statement that it is going to be fixed is what... happy optimism? With a counter augurment of ridicule.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):

Well, as experience shows, enough nagging from players CAN make devs reconsider even things explicitly stated as ironclad policies and/or technical impossibilities, even if it may take a few years. (Inf transfers and power customization being the poster children.)

For something like font size on a single screen, which is neither that deeply game-altering nor as technically difficult as above examples, chances are devs will listen eventually.
Quote:
I've done some testing on this. The font size used is determined by a combination of the width and height of the screen. At less than about 930 pixels vertical size or about 1240 pixels horizontal size, the font is only four pixels tall, which is unreadable on any screen (you need a minimum of five pixels for English text, more if you're using accent marks or non-Latin characters). Once the screen is larger than both those values, the game switches to a six-pixel font.
They both are from the same monitor. The reason the widescreen one has bigger numbers is because it has more pixels to render them.

At about 1520 x 1220, it switches to seven pixels.
At 1880 x 1400, it adds a fancy background.
There may be additional increases in size, but my monitor doesn't handle resolutions higher than 2048 x 1536.

As to facts: the enhancement screen changes are not good ones.
I suspect the changes are due to the upcoming Incarnate system. Possibly the necessity to allow for extra slots in each power which has resulted in the pre i17 slot spacing being changed and from there the enhancement level font being reduced.
Whether a Dev can read it at 2pm on a Tuesday doesn't interest me. Whether *I* can read it at midnight *easily* is important to me. I don't want to have to squint at my monitors. I'm running two relatively new Samsungs at 1680 x 1050, I've had an eye test recently, my monitors are clean and I find the numbers hard to read.
And if they looked fine on the Dev's monitor, then they wouldn't realize that there was an issue until someone mentioned it, in this case, multiple someones.
