Allow players to not accept buffs

How many costume contests do we have to have ruined by a griefer going around giving the contestants ice shields to make the judging impossible?

How many times do we hear "No speed boost for me. it makes me run into the mobs", etc.

allow players to reject buffs. thanks

Yeah this is a pretty common request (it comes up in pretty much every speed boost thread). As far as I know the devs have never made any statements one way or another regarding whether they are considering it but it's a good bet that it would be a lot of work to implement.

There's now an area specifically set to have zero powers working. Put CCs there. It's in every non-PVP zone, too.

Make it so buffs are cancelled? If someone wants to "grief" a contest, they'll just reapply it. Move to "Studio B?" They can't do it in the first place. If it seems too large, do it by group.

The game treats buffs and debuffs as the same thing, just with opposite leaning numbers. So if you make buffs cancellable, you make debuffs cancellable and that's never gonna happen.

At the very least, how about giving us the option in PvE to simply turn off the visual (and where applicable, the audio) effects of buffs?

They did talk about implementing a cancel buff option at Hero-con in one of the pod casts ("wouldn't it be great if" I think, or something like that).

How about "walk" disables buff effects or at least the visual effects thereof?

True, but isn't Teleport Freind kinda the same think as Teleport Foe? They are differewnt powers just like the buffs/debuffs and you can't say no to poeple who use Teleport Foe in PvP : P

No thank you. The accepting the fortune thing is annoying enough. I do not wish to get a pop up every time someone casts a buff on me. What would happen is that most everyone would set it up to auto accept the buffs anyway and every time they did a CC they would have to go in and change their settings. Sorry, just easier to move the CC to studio B than it would be to make this change.

Now I could go for an option where you could turn off all buff visuals. That way only the judges would have to change their settings and would help some with ancient computers with no graphics cards.

Those two are the same power with different target availability (and other differences). Buffs and debuffs are the same thing, just with + or - before the numbers.

Or so I've been told. Someone with first hand knowledge feel free to correct me.

Add a new field for powers that labels them as removable.

Do a search for powers that only effect allies and set the field to the appropriate value.

Have players in beta assist in identifying powers that should not be removable.

Remove prompt from MF.

I would love an option not to accept buffs. I think the issue is how to make the user interface convenient, and how much customization is allowed by players (for example, people love sb, but may not want the boost in movement speed, can players accept part of a buff only?)

A typical usage is to decline buffs during CC only, as mentioned, a quick solution is just to allow players to turn off buff graphics. I don't really agree that CC should be held in Studio B, as it is supposed to be a quiet place for mission architects, although there is no rule saying that it can't be used for CC.

Since I'm just a player and not the person who do the coding, I actually want both the option to decline buff, and the option not to show buff graphics.
