Why would anyone pick MA over DM?
Yes, yes, what about Midnight Grasp? It's only as good as Eagles Claw because the instant-damage portion of Midnight Grasp deals as much damage as Eagles Claw; the DoT portion of the damage sucks because it's...well...DoT.

Midnight Grasp's base PvP damage = 138.1 (after DoT) 107.6 before DoT
Eagle's Claw base PvP damage = 149.5 (No DoT at all)
I just thought it would be more helpful if the numbers were out there =D. I personally hate those advertisements that state X is better than Y without telling me how much better it is.
Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.
MG also animates a lot faster than EC, which makes it more handy as a followup attack for AS so as to not give your target time to heal/phase/run/whatever. It's why pre-nerf Energy Transfer was stupid good on Stalkers.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Fist of Annihilation looks bitchin'. There's your reason.

The set might "trump the other in all aspect" but it's not by much. Even if DM beats MA by 5-10 DPS, most people won't notice.

The highest MA in the Scrapper Pylon times thread is an MA/SD at 174 DPS whereas the worst DM/Shield (picked this for parity in secondary set) is listed at 209 DPS. I'm aware we're speaking of stalkers here, and changing Soul Drain to BU will drop DM's sustained DPS. I also know that my information source is more than likely very skewed towards DM thanks to more optimized DM/SD builds, but I still think it speaks volumes.

Because it's unpossible to be Dark and not emo.
Roll a Pirate guy with peg leg and hook and take Martial Arts for massive lolz.
Seriously, I recently rolled a Ma/Nin and love him. Nin seems to mesh well with MA and has all kinda cool tricks and a heal. I personally hate DM because I loathe missing with Shadow Maul, not to mention Sands of Mu in succession (at early levels).
A compelling reason to take MA is for the stuns which can stack and keep Lt's and even bosses perma stunned a lot of times. It also looks wayyyy cooler. Not to mention, when you hit 50, you never know, you might want to hit the pvp Zones.
In short, I'd say: If you are a total min-maxer go with DM (pve), if you're like me and fall somewhere between concept and min-max then take MA (pve and pvp).
Masterminds annoy everybody, sooner or later. Heck, Masterminds annoy themselves.

MA is also better than DM for PvP because aside from AS, the rest of DM's other powers are pretty low in terms of damage compared to MA, unless you slot Siphon Life for damage. Yes, yes, what about Midnight Grasp? It's only as good as Eagles Claw because the instant-damage portion of Midnight Grasp deals as much damage as Eagles Claw; the DoT portion of the damage sucks because it's...well...DoT.
Also, doesn't MA have a higher chance to crit? I remember reading the power details in game and most of MA's powers have a 5%-10% greater chance to crit than other powers that are capable of criting. I know for a fact that Eagles Claw has a higher chance to crit though.
