Note that these numbers are often rounded up, I just took the number of pages and multipled by 20 (the maximum number of arcs per page). I don't have the desire to handcount the number of arcs on the last page for every one of these.

And a lot of dead, abandoned arcs from between issues 14 and 15. Issue 15 was when that flag was added, so a lot of arcs have it by default. That "Work in Progress" list includes 1 DC and 3 HoF arcs even.

...not to mention that some people (such as myself) like to publish an arc once we get the basic mechanics hammered out so that we can earn tickets while play-testing it and adjusting the text.

What I find more interesting is the 20,440 0-star arcs. That's a LOT of arcs that nobody has ever played and quite a number of them are several months old.

And yes, a large percentage of them are very obvious farms.

Trivia fact: 1,824 arcs with the word "farm" right in their title or description.

Well, yeah, that's what it's for. That's 57,000 arcs in progress though...

And many of which have been "in progress" for a year or so.

53,320 have been "in progress" for 2 months or more.

47,320 of which have been "in progress" for over 6 months.

30,100 of which have been "in progress" for over 1 year.

Out of that 57,000 there are 18,166 which are "Work in Progress" and 0-stars.

I'll say it again: Set the filter to not show "Work in Progress" arcs by default.

The Clave Dark 5s of the world probably don't want you playing their arc yet anyway (I wouldn't, if it was my arc that wasn't done yet) and the other 52,000 arcs are mostly stuff you probably don't want to play.

You and your dirty logic!

Hopefully not, because that logic didn't work. The markets merged for entirely unrelated reasons.

Still, gotta love the self-assurance of folks who are convinced that it was their dogged, unrelenting advocacy that made the merger go through.

Indeed, I always put something in the arc description like "NOT FINISHED! (but if you really feel you have to try it out, please drop me some feedback)."

I'm sure 2 of those WiP that never got changed over are my fault, heh. But you know any work of art is never done

There is, however, a point where you're sick of staring at it.

Personally I think that the interface should have been designed so that an arc that is flagged "Work in Progress" shouldn't be able to gain ratings during that time. A WiP is not ready for public consumption and it's a rather dick move for someone to play an obviously unfinished arc and then nail it with a poor rating because it's unfinished.

That is why "Looking for Feedback" and "Final" are two separate flags.

Then people would change the flags on their farms so they could get tickets from ratings. Thereby removing many of the benefits of filtering out "Work in Progress" arcs.

IMO, it's the risk you take when you publish something that's unfinished. We have had changes made to test mode so you can test risk-free. If you want those tickets so badly, you risk someone nailing you with a bad rating, on the off chance they find your arc among the other 18,000 0-star WiPs. You can always unpublish and republish to wipe the bad rating out.

Agreed, but that's not why I quoted you.

I second the idea that an unfinished Clave Dark 5 arc is still better than 52,000 other arcs!

Eco.

All these WiPs flying around. . . .

Anyway, I reckon this explains why PENGUIN Part 3 is a month or so old with only 3 plays (despite being 5 stars).

I'm out of signature space! Arcs by Tubbius of Justice are HERE: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=218177

You might think differently if you played my current published WiP. :P It's playable, but possibly not worth it.
