A question about Stone Melee

With my Stone/WP quickly rising in level, what are people's thoughts on Tremor? I've tried it on a low level Dominator (RIP that Fire/Stone.. You did me well, untill I got bored) and although it was okay AoE damage, I wasn't completely happy with the outcome due to animation, recharge and endurance.. However, on a (Willpower) Brute this may be different, so I ask.

Is Tremor worth it, and if so, how about slotting? Regular IOs and set options please, if possible (currently running by 2x end, 2x recharge, 1x acc in all attacks).

It's your only AoE attack, especially without a damage aura in WP, and is totally worth taking despite the long animation. It has a large radius, provides solid mitigation, and recharges somewhat quickly.

You'll want Tremor and as well as a Patron TAoE attack to have some AoE damage capabilities.

Tremor is excellent for mobs that are susceptible to knock if you have WP. Even though they're down, they still feed RttC. So, very nice dmg mitigation that.

It's worth taking and using if your Fury is nice and high (so it packs more of a wallop) or if you need a breather and Fault isn't up (although thats rare).

It's an average AOE power really, but you don't get any other AOEs so it's certainly useful.

I'll put it this way - I have an EM/Elec and a SM/WP. I took Whirling Hands before I took Tremor.

So, why skip it on my SM/WP? The animation was too long, and you do get other AoEs in your Patron Pools. Sure, it has mitigation in it - and if Fault wasn't in the same set, that might mean something. And the radius is nice and large, but it makes up for that by locking you into an animation for 3.43 seconds, so you really don't save time compared to a smaller AoE.

As always, your mileage may vary.

I'm in the "It's the only AoE in the set, so of course I'll take it." camp. Yes you can get some from your patron, but those are on much longer recharges. I put the purple fire proc in mine to give it a little extra oomph.

Thanks for the input all.

I understand the reasoning behind getting it because it's the only AoE damage in set, but still, the animation and damage isn't the best. AoE knockdown will be Fault's territory, seeing as the combination of it's knockdown, stun and quick animation will be making it a very happy focus of mitigation.

In my mind, the animation of Tremor could be used flooring one or two enemies with the more powerful ST attacks, so.. I suppose there's not much use for it with my playstyle.

I'll be leaving it out for now and wait out for the patron AoE (going Soul like a good little Brute).

Unless you have enough recharge where you can spam whatever aoe's you have without pause, or you are fighting so few targets that your st attacks will kill them all faster than the total multiplied damage of tremor, then tremor is a decent pick.

Get two damage procs and the +rech proc in Fault though whether you keep tremor or not.

Personally, I went with Tremor and dropped fault once I started getting a fair amount of defense in my build. Right now I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 25-30% defense on my SM/WP, and it takes a lot to kill me. A lot.

Yeah, the AoE damage of Tremor isn't that great, but when you combine it with the awesomeness that is Dark Obliteration, it's not so bad either.

Dark Armor is like that kid you knew in school that didn't know when to shut up, and no matter how bad he got beaten down, he got right back up again and kept on talking.
