perma soul drain

Is this even possible?I decided to roll a DM/Ela brute and working on my build in Mids.I seem to recall hearing that having doul drain perma was possible and yet the best i can do is 41sec recharge with the normal 30sec uptime.Thats with 130% global recharge and a set of gaussians slotted in the power.I even broke the bank a bit and slotted 2 purple sets to get my global up that high.
Does anyone know if having perma soul drain is possible without overly gimping the build/slotting purples everywhere?
I guess it might be possible with dropping dmg output somewhat and slotting all for recharge?
Thanks in advance

I doubt it can be done without slotting a lot of purples. When I tried in mids, the closest I got was down to 30.9 seconds but that was with 5 sets of purples

/gignore @username is the best feature of this game. It's also probably the least used feature.

Not to rain on your parade but I bet it'd be possible with DM/SR, lots of powers to slot lotg's.

To get soul drain mostly perma, so that you could fire it off as soon as the effect faded would take 300% recharge (giving you a 30 second recharge), to get it truly perma (so that the power would finish activating just as the effect of the previous one fade) would take about 344% recharge, which would give you a 27 second recharge and allow for 3 seconds of activation. Note that this is more than you need to make hasten permanent, which only needs about 281% recharge.

Not impossible but fairly difficult. With 95% recharge slotted in soul drain you would need 249% global recharge - you could get 70% from hasten, which means you need another 179% from other sources. Thats a lot of global recharge bonuses.

The highest rech build I've been able to come up with had 155% global (not including hasten or slotting) and it was a controller.
fyi if you had 5 purps, 5 lotg, 5 basiliks/pvp heals, 5 6.25's and 5 5's you'd be at
176.25%

It's not really worth pursuing perma-Soul Drain. You can get the recharge on that skill reduced around 36 to 34 seconds without gimping your build by seeking excessive recharge. That's a massive uptime for such a powerful skill.

If you have 130% global recharge and Hasten, which will be parma at that value, you should have around 30.3 seconds of recharge for Soul Drain. I suspect that Hasten is not clicked on in your Mids build if you indeed have that much global recharge.

Otherwise, 80% to 95% global recharge with an additional 70% from Hasten are good values to shoot for. And DM/ELA is a great build, have fun with it.

My apologies, when i said i had figured my global recharge was 130% i was including hasten.I've adjusted the build a little and got the recharge on soul drain a little lower. Here is the build im currently looking to create after i get some lvls.
Note, some powers and slotting are not set in stone and lvl selection will probably change.
Does anyone see any changes i could make?

Gaussian's isn't the best set for Soul Drain for the same reason it isn't the best set for Build Up: It doesn't have a whole lot of recharge in it.

I'd drop Dark Consumption altogether (seriously, you shouldn't need it with Electric Armor as your secondary, Power Sink does the same thing better AND more often). Though if you find you need it before level 35 you can keep it for leveling and just respec out of it later.

Move the slotting from Dark Consumption to Soul Drain, replacing the Scirocco's you have in there currently with Acc/Rech and Dam/Rech.

Drop Combat Jumping in favor of Maneuvers, and take Tactics in the spot you opened up by dropping Dark Consumption (so you can slot the Gaussian's set you pulled out of Soul Drain). By taking Maneuvers instead, you still have a spot for that LotG, and if you put a couple slots in it for defense you will get better defense than running Combat Jumping, so it's a win/win.

It does lose your travel power, but there are enough temp travel powers red side that it shouldn't be an issue (and if you have the Martial Arts pack, Ninja Run will cover that need nicely), besides, when you're in the air you lose your KB protection from Grounded. If you really want a real travel power, you can take Hasten where Super Jump is on your build, and take Super Speed at 41 (since Weave isn't heavily slotted you can get away with pushing it back to 49 instead, and you can still 5 slot Gloom if you take it at 47)

Also, remember that Energize still works like Conserve Power, so consider using it for end conservation even when you don't need the heal from it (Another reason Dark Consumption is unnecessary).
