I really look forward to the Lore Wiki getting complete. I'd contribute, but contributing on Wiki sites always gives me a headache. Poor excuse, sure, but I shall at least wish you some good luck in your endeavour!

There are many things you can do with scantily clad women ^.^

And as for the wiki... I needs people to help with it, otherwise it shall never be done... well done enough to be considered done anyways.

Well, I suppose you could fire them out of railguns, catapults, over-sized handguns, etc. I still kinda see that as all under the same category as firing them out of cannons.

Well, what sorts of contributations can be made outside of the Wiki itself? Maybe that'll be a good compromise.

My honest advice is to have patience and, above all, keep working on it yourself. It took a long time of me writing articles and answering questions here with links before word kind of got around and people really started editing the Paragon Wiki hot and heavy.

If you build it, they will come. But you really do have to build it, and prove that you're willing to put effort into it yourself.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

Well what would be helpful is

finding and loading up Turn arounds of the various races.
designing a logo. (posted a topic in the fan art thing)
finding more sources and adding them to the references already there. (i know there are more than what I have up there)
Statesman's time line needs to be marked up for links
Transfering articles that are like books or such things like that from paragonwiki.
Make sure there are no spelling errors and no grammar errors.

More or less finding and loading good images, Editing (as in correcting), finding sources.

Yup. I spent the last week getting it to work and getting it looking right and then I've just been working on it slowly for the last 2 or 3 days, adding more to the timeline, which is the biggest main thing, as I feel like it, in between reading Batman comics (I've read something like 100-150 issue in the last month and 200-300 in the last 6)

How are you going to cite mission dialogs, whether from a contact or from someone inside the mission itself? Just curious.

As an example, there's the Maxwell Christopher arcs, where his dialog before/after the missions tells you a lot about Nemesis, as compared to the new I17 arcs, which give info on Protean's goals within the mission itself.

Would you just link to the Paragon Wiki page, or would you copy/paste all the mission dialog, without ambush warning/enemy types/other gameplay stuff? Or would you use something completely different?

currently the refs to game content is like this...

For Story arcs
"Game: Diviner Maros - Sharkhead Isle (-1336, 0, -758) - The Cult of the Shaper"
For Plaques
"Game: Cap au Diable Plaque (-1712, 0, -1108)"

These are not linked anywhere...

The plaques I think should probably be transfered over to a CtyofLore page and linked to, but the contact/mission arcs they'll either stay with no links or linked to paragonwiki...

I asked for opinions about this somewhere in the last few pages and got no responses.

Hrmmm... Guess i'll keep citing it without the links...

One tiny little thing (but it's important enough for me to post about it), only City of Heroes is mentioned on the section entitled 'main page', but City of Villain content is mentioned on the site.

I know it's fashionable to address both sides of the game as 'City of Heroes' (a lot of the time even the devs do it here and elsewhere), and I know it may seem petty on my part considering the co-op content and the fact that most packs people buy gives them both games now, but I do think CoV is a unique experience that, while it has a lot of shared content and mechanics with its 'parent', is still a very different animal in many areas of content (and the archetypes work very differently, in my opinion).

In terms of lore, there are marked differences between the Rogue Isles and Paragon City (and I'm roping Shadow Shard into this, as villains can't access it except through instanced missions).

Maybe I'm just being precious because I spend virtually all my time playing villains and most of that in the Rogue Isles (not co-op zones). I'm not anti co-op or anything (I enjoy mixed teams), but I love the vilain content and the archetypes. And maybe this is just because CoV as a brand feels like it's disappearing to me, but I think it's still worthy of a mention alongside its big brother/sister.

I shall put my soapbox away now. Thank you for your time

Most? Try all. Redside and blueside were merged into one thing shortly after NCSoft bought up the CoH IP from Cryptic. If you go to eBay and buy a CoH preorder code to create a new account, you'll have access to both sides of the game. Even a Game Card will give you access to both sides.

No one I know of calls it City of Villains. It doesn't make sense to do so. To me it just seems like a waste to say City of Heroes and City of Villains and City of Heroes: Going Rogue which if it were to be correct it would be City of Praetoria.

That being said. That's only a temp page sorta thing...As soon as i figure out what to actually put on there I'll change it ^.^ and it will likely have both mentioned along with Going Rogue.

For some of you that have been wondering why it still looks so sparse... well... because I'm working on the biggest single article and likely most important likely to ever be on the site which is...

http://www.cityoflore.com/wiki/Multi...Earth/Timeline

that thing is huge... I'm only to the 1930s and I'm only about halfway done.

At the end of the day, this is your project. However, one tiny little point that I feel I need to make is that GR is an expansion - it won't work without the core game. CoV is stand-alone.

And I acknowledge that few people seem to choose to differentiate it. I acknowledged as much by saying more than once that I may be seeming petty by making the distinction (and asking for the addition).

Not all. CoV can still be bought separately at the NC Store.

Why anyone in their right mind would choose to do this (particuarly with GR Collector's Edition coming out) is beyond me. But, as with most things in a democratic, open market, people can choose to buy an item even if it's not the best value.

I applaud you for taking the initative on this. As has been said, however, you will need to convince people that contributions are essential for the project to grow, and that their efforts to this end are worthwhile.

Otherwise, you'll just end up burning yourself out.

How to do this? I may be the wrong person to give suggestions on this, as I'm not a big 'lore' person (I play the game to have fun, and often don't read the 'story' as I do a lot of reading in the real world).

However, there are many resources online about volunteering and the motivations for it. One of these is entitled "Why People Volunteer" by Canadian Heritage (http://www.nald.ca/fulltext/heritage...e/WhyPplE1.htm) and the following are listed as incentives to get people to volunteer;

  • Achievement
  • Recognition and feedback
  • Personal growth
  • Giving something back
  • Bringing about social change
  • Family ties
  • Friendship, support, bonding and a feeling of belonging
As this is your project (you're effectively the project lead) some or all of these will need to be present to convince people to give up their time to your project. And, interestingly, the opposite is also true - without a sense of achievement or acknowledging people's points of view, people may be discouraged to volunteer time to a cause or project.

In any case, it's not preferable to take on a project this size on your own. If you do, you'll most likely end up burnt out and/or bitter.

Thank you, Agg - I did not know this. I thought the 'other side unlock' was a one time deal. I'm glad I'm wrong in this instance

If you or anyone has suggestions I'm all ears. I don't seen any more need for such things besides it's a good thing to have and I enjoy learning canon. I presume others do too...and that should be enough at least to me.
