Best way to set up a farm?
This thread has lots of archetype ideas, some people mention maps, and statistics on how well they did.
Herostats is what you can use to track the numbers. Defeats per minute is the # you want to maximize for purple drops. Influence from defeats per minute is not necessarily the best measure of wealth being generated because sometimes defeating many more foes can generate many more drops which are more valuable. You would need to do complicated math to figure out which is truly ideal.
If all you care about are purples, then find a mission crammed with enemies that are weak to the sort of damage you deal and run it at -1/x8.
If you care about the other drops as well, then run at 0/x8.
All else is a fiddly detail that depends on your character, your goals, and what you enjoy. Also, it matters if you are red or blue.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
Yeah... you have to pick what your after. If you just want purples -1/8 and tear though as many as you can till you start getting sleepy. If you want infl. then I'd say purple farm and sell them. If you want good recipe drops and salvage I'd say to make an Oro arc in a 30ish lvl range (most people want lvl 30 IOs).
Just saying that your question is very common and vague. There are tons of farms. If your toon have good def or res to fire then farming the Infernal mish is good. It all depends on what you want to achieve and what you have to make it happen.
Ticket farms.... Purple farms.... Salvage farms.... Rep farms.... Dairy Farms....

Unai Kemen's arc "To Save a Thousand Worlds" is full of big outdoorsy maps of a variety of enemies and awards 43 merits. You may want to take a look at that.
Re-run the Family or Council maps a few times if you like. The last two missions are War Wolves. If you hate them as much as I do, they're both timed, so you can let them expire.
Its not optimal, but it makes farming for purples not feel like so much of a farm, if that makes sense :P
The biggest roadbump is the Paragon Protectors dimension, but you could drop the virtual team size to race through that one if you need to.
Thanks for the tips, guys.
More specifically, I'm looking for blue side. I'll probably focus on purples/salvage. What are the best missions to do this?

300,000+ influence per minute is good at +0/x8 since this means you are also clearing mobs very quickly. This, or slightly better, is what I do on my SS/Fire brute. I also avoid bosses. Many people will tell you bosses are better, so that's your call there. I get an average of 1.4 purples per hour. Two nights ago, I got five purples in two hours. Last night I got zero purples in an hour and a half. It all averages out. Good luck
I've been farming the Unai Family mission...and haven't got any purple drops after about three days. Question: I have it set on -1/8. Am I not getting purples because of the -1? Does it have to be 0 or more?

And for the record, I farm a level 49 mission set to -1, and I've gotten purple drops from it.
Where to now?

At least on red side, there's many orange recipes that sell for more than some purples, which is why I prefer level 50 drops. Numina recipes for instance can be crafted and sold for 60-80mil, where a less desired purple like Coercive or Fortunata, sells for only 20-40mil, and take a lot more expensive materials to craft. You can sell the recipes as is but you typically make more to craft instead.
Yeah, Purples are just really rare drops.
Unless you're farming it for like 3 hours each night and not seen a drop. Then you've either got terrible luck, or maybe the high level Family actually had their recipe drop rates nerfed (I know the devs got mad at redside for farming a Family mission and nerfed level 40+ family xp/inf, but I always assumed drop rate for recipes is the same regardless of how they nerf a faction otherwise. frankly i don't like farming enough to have checked it out, and assumed RMT farmers only used the Lib TV Nemesis farm map because it was SO HUGE they only had to get fillers for their farm runs once every 40 minutes instead of every 20--honestly, who is DUMB enough to farm a faction that has auto-venging lts?)
Hey all...maybe someone can give advice or direct me in the right direction.
I've been playing for years and have several different toons that I can "farm" with. Basically, I'm looking for the best way to set up a farm to earn inf, purples, recipes, salvage, etc.
All that said, what is the best way to go about setting up a good farm? Mission ideas? Levels/number of baddies? Etc. If you were to direct someone to set up a great farm what would you tell them to do? I appreciate any and all input...
