Soo, after years with my Kat/SR i want to roll a new toon. I plan to stick to basic IO's.

Is BS/IVN a good combo? i plan to invest in aid self, hasten, and stamina.

Is this a good combo? i was never one for chasing the soft cap on defense so i am thinking this build is more sturdy. Given the boost in damage and recharge IO's can this put out some dps as well?

I do plan to PvP though investing in franensloting is not an intrest can i still have fun competing?

BS is ok for PVP but I'd take regen over Inv into PVP.

BS/Inv is a beast against anything that deals mainly smash or lethal damage. You'll rarely be hit and when you do get hit you won't even take much damage. It's not as great against elemental damage, though, without buffing Defense via IOs. This isn't to say that it is only good against S/L.

I'd say that rather than getting Aid Self, you should get the Fighting Pool. I had Aid Self on my Kat/Inv, but found Fighting saved me from faceplants more than Aid Self ever did. The situations where you need AS the most are also usually those situations where pulling it off is quite near impossible, thanks to the interruptable cast.

Rather than pick Aid Self, why not take the Fighting Pool as DSorrow suggested, and carry a few green insps around just incase you need the healing.

The 2 sets are gonna play near identical.
The only deference being /inv will have dull pain.

As much as /invul has resists the trick is gettin into large spawns for invincibility to shine.

Both sword sets have parry/DA and the same basic attacks, albeit with different times and animations.

At least thats my guess.
Ive never run up either combo specifically but ive run up each set to 50 on varies toons, ie kat, broadsword, sr and invuln.

And if you wanna pvp with a scrapper id suggest spines or fire with either rgn or wp.

+1 on ditching Aid Self, unless you HAVE to have it for the scrapper challenges it's a waste imo.
