Best part? I finally find a great deal to move on, and I get the "Black Market Cannot process your request, please try again later." Error. That's about time to give up on it, I think. Glad you can manage at least.

And you need to realize that I'm not posting screenshots to try to show you up. I posted them to demonstrate that the method I describe works. It has also worked for countless others.

Please respond to the PM. My offer of help is genuine.

No, no, I don't think you're showing off. I'm just frustrated, I don't mean to vent at you. Sorry for giving that impression. I'm not trying to blame you or anything, I'm sure the problem is with me, but I don't know where or how in particular.

I'm mulling over why this isn't working for me. I can't easily ID what I'm doing wrong here, or tell if lady fortune just thinks I'm the object of a scat fetish.

I struggled at first applying this advice, but after a couple days I fell into a groove. The most important thing I've found when crafting and selling is to just not care about getting market price. Everything I sell, I list at cost + 50%. Right now, I've got a pack of IOs up that are listed at 1.5M while the "going rate" is 10M. I've gotten 10M for 3 of them, and I've gotten 1.6M for two of them. The point is the turnover's been fast, and I've been able to keep buying new recipes and keep supplying more of that IO.

It doesn't matter how much profit you make on each individual sale. Your overall return on investment is the important part. Sure, some of your IOs might be bought up by people who are buying it cheap to sell it high. That's fine. Let them sit with it clogging their consignment house.

Feel free to message me in-game if you'd like. I took Fury's advice, and starting with a fresh account from level 1 have made over 200M in 5 days. That's liquid, if my full inventory were to sell I'd have over 300M right now.

Alkirin no longer has any problems. His problems mostly amounted to picking some bad niches and pricing things too high so the IOs would sit in his slots without selling. In his last update to me via PM, he was well on his way to making a tidy fortune.

1. You want to price low enough that your stock sells, while still making a profit and pricing above the bargain hunters. This means that even if you're selling only your listed price, you'll be making profit.

2. Pick a niche that has buyers from the last five sold within the last few days. Picking a high profit niche that only sells one of that item every couple of months is a losing proposition unless you are extremely patient.

Hello, I will probably be making more than 100m in less than 48 hours thanks to this guide (and that's starting from less than 500k and no character high enough to farm anything), this guy and other one (heff, I dont know the full name). Fury and him helped me both answering my boring and stupid PM's and heff helped me with some advices in the game. If a failure like me can make some milions then EVERYONE can.

Hehe, reading throught this thread sounds like a marketing brochure for a pyramid scheme or similar.

But seriously, great guide Fury. I'm one of the players that falls into the doesn't put what I read into practice. Sometimes I do, but mostly I'm not bothered. But then I'm also one of the minority who doesn't blame the marketeers for high prices. If I need cash I'll definetly be doing this.

Could just be my bad luck, but items that run stable at 20m+ will suddenly drop to less than half of that the second I post an item at 15m, thinking I'm a smart guy by undercutting. Kinda feels like someone is waiting for me to invest in something before screwing me over at the last second...Even worse is when I see items consistently selling for more than what I've listed, while my listing just sits there until the prices fall low enough to put me further into the hole. Very fickle market, it seems.

Going to end up with alot of expensive crap I'd have to probably give away. It's...Discouraging. Don't know how some of you people pull millions in days by it.

That's pretty decent reasoning, since the lowest priced IO usually sells first, it still may mean yours will sit there while another player's sells. What you may be up against is a player who's listing their IO for 14,999,999. If a bid comes in for 30M, their IO sells, your's don't.

In the guide, I recommend pricing IOs at 66% to 75% the going rate. I've put this range in to make it easy for people to remember and for 95% of most situations that works. However, what I do is price for the amount that yields me a modest profit. I have no hesitation to list a 20M+ IO for as little as 9.5M. I've probably bought the recipe for 2M, crafted it with salvage for another 3M and even minus marketing fees, I'll still have 4M+ profit if it sells at the listing price. More likely however, the IO will sell for 20M+ and I'll get the sale while people who are listing at 15M don't. It doesn't bother me in the slightest that someone else bought a 20M+ IO for 9.5M. I'm *still* making profit. Who cares if someone else gets a bargain.

The most common mistake I see beginning marketeers make is assuming that they are failing if they don't get the market price for the IOs they sell. Instead, they should be happy that their IO sold quickly and it freed up a slot for them to make another transaction. I always shake my head at situations where a player has listed an IO at near the market going rate and are frustrated when it sits there for weeks. IOs that you are selling, no matter how expensive, are not usable to you as influence unless they sell.

I have the same problem. I think the mistake is on me... I'm picking small niches. I also made the mistake of grabbing like 10 horribly cheap LotG recipes, failing to notice that they each require about 5 million-worth of salvage to craft.

I keep falling into those pratfalls and not noticing what actually can make some money.

Also, is it just me or are a lot of the, what may have once been considered "niche" enhancements, are they now in abundance? It does seem like a lot of people are utilizing this method, because I don't ever remember seeing 23 level 30 Acc/Dam Pounding Slugfests available to buy at once before recently (that's a random example).

The niches shift frequently. There are enough people marketeering to ensure that what was great today, may only be so-so tomorrow. However, because they shift often, you can always find a new one.

The following were my "down falls" when I started marketeering. I was confused, frustrated, and just plain old pissy about it. I did more reading and figured out what I was doing wrong. After figuring it out, it took about 8 or 9 days to make a billion. It works that well. Here's the things I was doing wrong:

Pick items with small numbers of enhancements for sale. If you're competing with 95 other sellers, your odds diminish greatly.

Set a minimum for your slots. I started with 10 mil. I have since increased it to 25 mil. I like doing less work - but the pay isn't as good. Once you have a minimum, look at enhancements first, recipes second. Find enhancements that sell for 10 mil + (or whatever your floor) and 5 have sold today.

Look at the recipe for the enhancement you found. If it take a rare salvage, add 4 mil to the recipe price (for quickly calculating prices). If the recipe + 4 mil is less than the "last 5" on the enhancement, you're good.

For recipes that don't take rare salvage, add 1 mil.

List LOW! This one baffled me for a long time - Stuff selling for 20 mil. I'm listing mine at 15.7, why aren't mine selling?!

Pick a %. Buy your recipe and and mats. Make the enhancement and mark it up your %. You may choose 50%, 75%, 500%. Whatever is fine. I mark mine up 25% then bump it over the next creeping hurdle (if my profit ays list it at 4.8 mil, I'll list it for 5.1 to get past that 5 mil hump)

You may end up listing an enhancement that sells for 20 mil for 8 mil. This is fine! You WILL sell some at 10 mil. You WILL sell more at 20 mil. People are sheep and most will bid exactly what the last 5 bid. Listing low ensures that yours sell first. Profit is profit. If you're turning a slot twice a day for 4 mil a pop (cause people keep buying yours low) you're still making more than if you turn that slot once every 2 days for 8 mil.

If you do get stuck with an enhancement that isn't moving, pull it, list it ridiculously low and walk away. Pulling 3 IOs and getting 5 mil instead of 20 is fine if they're just clogging up your market. Leaving things up too long is a hard habit to break.

Do not and I repeat do NOT try to corner any niche. Make 2 - find another niche. Come back to it, sure! But don't camp there! You'll lose a lot - this mistake has cost me hundreds of millions. A recent venture into "cornering an IO" cost me 500 mil. Yay me... lol.

Stick to max level and for the more patient, min level recipes. Max level recipes sell faster. Min level sell for more. Pick your poison. These 2 ends of the spectrum are about volume sales. You're best bet is almost always here.

I did many experiments in the beginning with mid-levels and going across a range. These failed every time. Trust in the people who have been doing this a long time (not me) - max level is where its at people!

**NOTE** This doesn't always mean 50. Some IOs stop at 40, 35, 30, and 20.

If you have any other questions, I would be happy to answer them as best I can. Of course you may prefer a more seasoned marketeer. In which case, Fury is quite knowledgeable and helpful.

I think my failing is in recognizing what to attempt to try to buy, craft and sell. The things I know people want, like Obliteration, Touch of Death, etc, all are too expensive to attempt this with and in short supply. The random things I try... Don't turn out so well. I'm sitting on a number of Luck of the Gambler's, Far Strike's, Bruising Blow's and Steadfast Protection's that are just languishing in there right now, not priced particularly high or anything.

Try looking into things that show a better potential than things that are traditionally what people want.

I've found more than a few niches where I was "hmmm... I had no idea people even used this set..."

Languishing = not making you a thing. Pull em, list em for a lot less than you are (even if you're listing low) and get rid of em.

A good thing to do for looking for new niches is to look at IOs that the journal people list. Go through their list and see if any of it is good. If it is, make 2 and move on.

Journal people? Does anyone have an ongoing one since Issue 18? It seems that there is a ton of behavior of this sort going on right now - You guys are still having success? It seems almost all of the relatively obtainable enhancements on there have at least 8 or so available to buy these days.

I didn't "start" marketeering until after 18. The niches are there - identifying a "good" one imho is the largest hurdle into becoming a marketeer.

As for the journals, the nice thing about them is when someone like Fury posts a pic of what they sold, you can go and look at all of the enhancements and see if any of them are still good. If you keep looking, eventually everything that was good at one point usually becomes good again at some other point. Pop over to the Market forums and have a look in the guides section.

If you like, you can read this.

Please read the entire thread as it is my personal journey into marketeering. I wasn't afraid to ask questions or request clarification on points I didn't understand. Near the end, someone (forget who atm) links a thread which describes in detail what a "good" niche is. Ironically, I had pretty much figured it out for myself the previous night. *shrug*

**NOTE** I never did find exactly what I had requested in the original thread. My signature contains the closest thing I can find to "diet" marketeering, but the profits are (relatively) very low. Since that original post I have become a "lazy marketeer". I flip less than 5 slots a day on average. Nothing special. I simply decided to go after bigger fish and make up the difference from volume in gross profits. This fits my laziness much better than turning all of my slots at least once a day

And yes, you can do just fine being a lazy marketeer. I have given away over 2 billion in the past week and have outfitted 3 characters from the ground up since I started marketeering.

Good luck! I know you'll be fine - I can already see you have the patience to learn!

I think my two big problems are A) I wasn't looking only at max-level items, and B) I don't think I have the kind of money to operate in volume in the high-end sales. At least not on the character I was attempting to use (a level 41 Ice/Elec Blaster with about 80 mill to his name).

I'm on the way out the door at work. I'll try tonight and see how it goes. I guess I'll actually start an Excel sheet or something.

This idea from OP is very similar to one of my inf systems but with a few changes and notes..

First of all I would never use items that stood to make less than 10 million per-- The profit window is too small for too much work. A nice example of something awesome to use are certain pieces of the LOTG set-- Buy the recipes for 10k, craft and sell for over 10 mil.

The first thing you should do is leave lots of standing bids on the recipes. It doesn't matter if it takes a day to get them all... Personally when I find an item I want I use several alts that I have just for marketeering and fill up all their slots with relatively low bids on said items every day. It's to the point where it moves fluently now, so every time I log them in I craft post and bid on more.

Something you'll want to watch for is being undercut... Eventually someone will find out what you're doing and do the same exact thing except post them for lower. What you want to do before you start and if yours stop moving is leave standing bid-creeps on said item, check back a while later and see what you get it for. Whatever you got it for, either buy a bunch and post them for more or start posting yours for less. *This depends on the situation.

Eventually if you get good enough control of a situation with a great profit margin and you own most of the recipes, you stand to make billions of inf daily. Personally I'm making about 600 million a day, and I'm only using one item on one server. If I got ambitious I could get pretty rich pretty quick. You can also expand your system across servers and create personal SG bases for storage purposes.

I hope this was helpful, and thanks for posting the original!

I'm just going to say this about this guide: It works!

Pay close attention to the tip about putting stuff up for sale a lower than the going rate, it's pretty much the key to getting a decent turnaround on your sales. So thanks for the guide, it worked wonders for me.
