New Open Dungeon: The Ziggurat

I was thinking it would be cool if heroes could enter the Ziggurat. You go into the Ziggurat and everyone is in their cell, there's a questioning room that's open and all that stuff, pretty quiet-You would just use this for RP. But then there would be a zone event.

There's just a bunch of prisoners running around with guards trying to fight them off and then heroes go in to help.

I know Red side needs something like this more, but i think this could be very cool.

If I were to make a zone out of the Zig, I'd make it a PVP Zone. Give the villains a special Black Helicopter that drops them off at the Zig with a pilot that explains the zone mechanics, Heroes go in the front door to a lobby with their NPC and entrance.

Like Recluse's Victory, players can control zones, and earn badges for capturing them. NPC Villains spawn in Hero-controlled jail cells guarded by RV archvillin strength Longbow (or other heroes), and Villains get rewards and badges for breaking them out and leading them to the flyer. AV strength NPC Villains also spawn in Villain controlled areas; heroes get their rewards by defeating these AVs (which converts thm into a hostage), and leading them back to the detention area. Of course, players of the other side attempt to thwart the recsues/arrests.

It's been asked for a few times, actually. Prisoners need a bit of tweaking, but it would make sense as an event point (like the Mothership in the RWZ or SC fires, for instance.)

PVP in the Zig could be fun. Although, at this point their security is terrible (with all the Arachnos break-ins and what not) I think villains breaking in would just add to that problem. The Zig holds high class criminals so their security should be good.

Instance you mean, instance.
I'm all for the idea, not so much for the PVP version of it.

A new PvP zone? Just what this game needs, another zone 95% of the player base never uses, and another zone that will further thin out the few remaining PvP players which will make it even harder for them to find opponents.

Ah right sorry!

I agree with the no PVP version, although it could be fun it would just be spreading out PVPers even further. Also, i bet a bunch of PVEers would want to go in.

I don't think "Instance" is the correct word. I think the OP is asking for a contested area, not something that would exist for only one team.


The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Well, technically, I guess the Zig is probably the closest thing to an actual dungeon in the game

That could work, although i think the Zig would be much smaller than Terra Volta is.

I was trying to think up something that the Zig could be used for when a riot wasn't going on. What i came up with was a new way to get information from villains. Instead of beating villains until they tell you what you want, you have the choice to go to the Zig and talk to one of the old leaders of that group. You'll have a few choices of things to say, if you get the leader mad enough then you'll end up beating him until he tells you what you want.

Let the zig be a zone where we fight to prevent "Costumed" villain NPCs from escaping and on the Villain side, get past costumed heroes to escape with as many villains as possible. Make them con to every level like the zone events, add generous amounts of chaos, sprinkle a few badges, and some special temp powers, shake well and WIN!

Sounds good, although on hero side there should be uniformed villains too. I mean if there was a villain escaping don't you think everyone else would try to escape?
