I like to imagine a huge box of cereal with the phrase "Free Prize Inside" when I read this.

Although I think we do need to remember exceptions.

That's true, that's true. In my haste, I forgot that we're also free from difficulties, crime, radicalism, and the Hamidon that would have otherwise killed us all.

You're right, SwellGuy. I suppose freedom from certain things can be a blessing. Luckily for us, Emperor Cole has done a fairly good job of determining which freedoms are good and which are bad. Ya know, I heard about this other city where they've been throwing as many freedoms as possible just to see what sticks. Like darts or spaghetti.

That's all right too, I guess. When playing with the lives and trust of your citizens, I guess letting them run wild at the health and safety of the virtuous has its merits.

All you need to do is think for yourself, and Tyrant and cronies will give you freedom from all your troubles. Most call the same status "death" and do try to avoid it.

I realize life without your chains, without someone telling you what you can and can't think may be scary. "What should I think today, oh Tyrant? Am I thinking it properly, mindcop? Please, make my shackles heavier, let the chains rattle in my glorious servitude!"

Freedom is not anarchy, self determination is not chaos. Attempts to portray them as the same thing do nothing but indicate how brainwashed you've become. And this saddens me.

I don't think anyone would have wanted to live - as it were - under the Hamidon. Cole stopping the Hamidon? Nobody argues that it was the right thing to do. But it's the actions after that - Might does not mean Right. Might does not make one a just ruler.

Yep, a rework of the Preatorian portal arcs was announced for GR. Hopefully they can add something for villain side too.
