Whats better Fire/MM or AR/Dev?
I'm returning to CoH after a long break, I want a blaster and was thinking bout making a Fire/MM or AR/DeV. Wondering which of the 2 would be better for PvE and a little PvE. I heard both are fun and great to team up with, so I'm just looking for some feed back thanks.

I prefer Fire/MM. Better on fast moving teams. I prefer the functionality of Aim, Blaze, and Build Up (Concentration) over Caltrops (Caltrops is amazing, btw) and more AoE powers than I need.
I prefer Concentration+Breath+Scream+Ball to Full Auto+Flamethrower (Buckshot, Ignite, M-30, Trip Mine, and *shudder* Time Bomb).
Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.

Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.
In my opinion, AR should never be mixed with Devices, unless you either prefer concept/theme over performance, or you like a slower style of play. Assault Rifle when combined with Devices lacks any type of damage boosting power, such as Aim or Build-Up. On top of that, AR is mostly AOE damage and somewhat lacking in single target attacks. Unlike other blaster secondaries that usually have melee attacks, Devices has none, so does nothing to assist with AR's single target damage.

Fire/MM can also be decent in pvp. Spammming flares and fire blast will do a hefty amount of damage, and MM isnt too bad because DP is nice if you can get it off, and psi is pretty unresisted. Fire/EM is still way better than MM as a PvP secondary.
I very much prefer Fire/Mental.

Fire/MM vs AR/Dev is not even close to a fair fight
The Fire/MM has better AoE damage, less resisted damage, Aim and Build up, better survivability and better ST damage. The only thing AR/Dev does better is having a crashless nuke but with a good Drain Psyche you can recover right through the Inferno crash

AR/Dev also has a better alpha strike if you're willing to spend 5 minutes laying mines...
(Though I'd rather spend those five minutes clearing half the map with the Fire/Mental )

Iv had a high level Fire/MM Blaster, it didnt do so hot on the PvP scene, but it did great on fast moving teams like StratoNexus said.
AR/Dev, iv seen it do decent in PvE...and rock the house in PvP.Pretty solid utility and variance in damage with that toon.
Then I have a 3rd Blaster.Fire/EM.This ones my Favorite to use on teams.Nothings funnier then wiping a mob while the team leader is instructing the team to follow the tanker and stay near the healer.
Hasten, Boost Range, Build Up, Aim, Rain of Fire, Fireball, Fire Breath, Fireball.....If anythings alive before it gets to you...it aint happy...lol!
