LD's COH Sketchbook
Trying to get back in the mood?!? How did the Robert Chang workshop go?

My apologies to Comrade Hero because I fell off the radar for a while without finishing that gift art. I think I will actually put it on hold for a little longer and learn some proper anatomy first. At the moment I don't even know the major muscle groups.
I started doing photo studies from some fashion magazines at issuu.com. Gave this one a Statesman ear ring so I can post here.

Mesmerizing piece. The earrings are so cute!
The space between her eyebrows suggests her head is turned ever so slightly, yet her mouth seems side-on. Well, with the shadow under her nose it's hard to say, but perhaps her chin seems side-on. Still stunning!

Hehe, she does kinda look like Soul Train.
Got started on my July fanart entry.
Despite what you might have been led to believe about how Sister Psyche maintains her age-defying appearance, the truth is it wouldn't have been possible without the power of science. See, everyday at midnight Sister Psyche injects herself with a secret Crey serum.
The origin of the serum actually goes back to the chemical warfare during the first World War. A group of American military scientists discovered a deadly formula the effects of which were so horrifying you wouln't wish it on your worst enemy. Fortunately, the war was over before it was put to use.
Crey Industries acquired the formula at a later date, and continued research revealed the unexpected anti-aging effect. Unfortunately, even a very small dose causes excruciating pain, so there was no potential for mass marketing as a beauty product. However, there was one woman who became aware of its existence, and had the sheer willpower to subdue pain: Sister Psyche, of course. In exchange for a lifetime supply of the serum, Sister Psyche agreed not to interfere with Crey Industries' major operations.
The figure in the foreground is going to be Sister Psyche's true form, a wrinkled old lady, and the reflected image is going to be what she allows others to see.

I decided to take a different approach...hopefully for the better.
Finally started learning anatomy. I have always been intimidated by all the bones and muscles, but I guess you just gotta suck it up.

Take it from a professional massage therapist, all of those bones and muscles are Fascinating! Da Vinci and Buonarroti (and others) advanced medical knowledge in the Renaissance by cutting up corpses and studying how the joints and muscles went together, but the Reason they did it was Art! And if they hadn't had such close ties to the Church (for their Art), they'd have been burned at the stake for necromancy.
Knowing how all of those parts go together, how they interact, and how they Move is one of the things that separates skilled art from 'just a bunch of lines on a page'. I encourage you, I exhort you - study anatomy!
Be Well!

mmmm Necromancy...
So I started learning Blender after I saw Primantiss' thread, and I'm hooked!
I'm going through the tutorials and projects here:
http://www.gryllus.net/Blender/3D.html
This castle was modelled following step by step instructions, and I added the bridge on my own.
And my first 3d bust:
Unfortunately I closed the program by mistake without saving so I couldn't get different views. At least I still have my base object and this is what it looked like before I messed around in sculpt mode. The upper part of his skull is still pretty much a cube.
I will try to do some coh related stuff as I learn more.

Thanks VexXxa!
I spent most of the week learning Blender. Made this from scratch today following this tutorial:

It's pretty amazing what can be done in Blender. I can't wait to learn character rigging and animation and all that stuff.
