WARNING: E-mail Attachments Bug

Not sure the exact circumstances here, but the game swallowed up an e-mail with inf attached to it. This is what I did:

  • Logged in on a Hero. Sent either 10M or 100M inf (don't remember) to my global handle.
  • Saw that I had e-mail, and checked it to see what the attachment interface looked like.
  • Logged out and back in on a Villain.
  • The e-mail was not there, so I went back to the Hero.
  • The e-mail was not there either. Inf went bye-bye.
  • Both characters have Friends and Super Group Only enabled.
If you send yourself an e-mail, make sure you do something you KNOW works or you might lose something worthwhile.

i havent had any issues with the email yet, although on a hero i did sent like 150 mil inf and a few purps to email them played villains for awhile with the emails still there

could either be random bug or could have accidentally hit delete button

either way ill keep an eye out on this

Bolded yellow bit is part of your problem. Villians cannot pick up e-mail sent from Heroes, nor visa versa.

Blue part is definitely a problem, but I have to wonder if it was a side effect from your trying to use the email cross-faction.

I ran a test yesterday and sent some Halloween Salvage to myself from one of my villains.

I logged in a hero. The email was there with the attachment, but I could not claim it, since it came from a villain.

I logged in a villain after that. The email was still there, and the villain was able to claim the salvage. Could it be a problem with just sending inf?

Guess I could email myself a small sum and see if it gets lost.

Also, it is not possible to accidentally delete an email with an attachment. As long as there is an attachment, where the Delete button should be is a button that says Return instead. Once the item is claimed though, then the button reverts back to Delete.

Test complete.

Sent myself 100 inf from a hero.

Villain could read the email but not claim the inf.

Logged another hero in and was able to claim the inf.

Guessing that the OP just experienced a random bug with the email system.

I did not attempt to claim the inf on the villain. The e-mail was never there to begin with.

Did you read the e-mail with the hero that sent it prior to switching to the villain? That's exactly what I did.

And if you hit send just as the globals hiccup, you lose the e-mail with all attachments. Make sure you petition it, hopefully they'll give you your inf back.

I'll keep that in mind, but it's not what happened. I got the e-mail. I read the e-mail. I didn't claim the inf since I wanted to claim it on a different character, but switching characters somehow caused the e-mail to get deleted entirely.

Even if it was 100M inf, it's nothing I can't get back within a day on the market. Silly bidders bid sillily.

A weird bug, for sure. Did you /bug it? Even if you don't want to /petition for the inf back, it's a nasty little bug and should be investigated.

I haven't fully investigated the improved mail interface ... are there any viewing preferences like only showing unread mail? I don't think there are, but just in case ...

This exactly, I am pretty sure.
I was emailing during a chat channel hiccup and lost some things (chat server reset and lost what I had sent, but they were already out of my inventory).

Working through the petition process now, tho I imagine the market issue has them tied up.

Not uncommon for chat channels to get gas periodically, that'll be something to watch in the future.

EDIT: Support was very helpful. I got my stuff back.
