You can kinda go either way. My plant/ice is pretty much a controller with better damage. But my Fire/Psi is pretty much a blaster with a bit of control. Fire/Fire is the king of damage though.

I spent a couple hours with him today and can definitely tell he can do damage, just against with the missions set on +0x1 and he seemed to fair pretty well despite no enhancements slotted yet, going to transfer him some money tonight and give him a respec to try to choose powers a little better. Not sure about him as a controller, but his damage is nice,

it's hard to get out of the "controller" mindset sometimes if you're coming from that. You'll do some of the same things, but for different reasons. You're not trying to keep a debuff in place, you're trying to make things die faster (for instance.) And, of course, you can get right in a boss's face (with Domination) right away. It takes some getting used to. (I have to wonder if Ice/ blasters have an easier time switching to doms sometimes.)
Part of what keeps Doms from greater popularity is the steep learning curve. You must unlearn everything you learned as a Controller. Doms play so differently from Controllers it's hard to believe they have primaries in common.
I wouldn't have recommended Fiery/Fiery as a starter Dom, but I'll bet you're catching on fast and will be fully Dominating everything before long. Keep up the good work, and welcome to the game's best-kept secret Archetype!

Super Reflexes: the Golden Fox of power sets!
WARNING: I bold names.
One bit of playstyle advice, get Flashfire+Fire Cages. Slot them for accuracy and duration, plus some damage in Fire Cages. Spam this combination from range as much as possible s these two powers form an excellent AoE hold. Once the group is mezzed run in with hot feet blazing and imps following. Spam Firey Attacks..watch your enemies melt! Wash, rinse, and repeat until you can't stand it!!!

I have a now level 38 Fire/Fiery Assault Dom that I have not really played since he was level 10 or so, and I have no idea to really play him, I am reading this guide

it is a little old but helps me a little, I have a lot of controller experience Blue side, but no real dom experience.
As far as the build is concerned I am not sure if I should be focusing more on control or on the attacks in Fiery Assault, guess I am not sure if a Dom is more Blaster or Controller or just a support toon.
Just looking for advice in general on this type of Dom, and all Doms in general because I have a level 38 Ice/Cold Dom that I have yet to play as well
Just extra info, I generally solo or dual Box(reason why I have to level 38 toons I never played with the whole level Pact thing)
