Thanks for the compliment!

I haven't changed the majority of Comrade Hero's background, just shifted the geographical location to my little corner of the world

Creative writing yes, but as far as natural talent with story craft - that's very much a work in progress.

Actually this might interest some folks, I'm about to my script writing skills bloodied by Steven Forbes' red ink in his column The Proving Ground.

Steven takes submitted scripts, critiques them and posts his analysis along with a lot of red ink for people to read and hopefully learn from. I'm up this Friday, January 21.

As for more pages... well those five pages will be used as print and digital media samples and support materials for my funding applications in the first round that starts next month. So I'll be focusing on fine tuning the pitch, business plan, proposal and reference material.

However, I was contacted about using Comrade Hero in a motion comic sample. I know the artist in question so have no issue helping him with in this respect. So who knows - maybe a little Comrade Hero Motion Comic sample in the near future.

It's a pay it forward situation as well. I received that sort of assistance when I was working in the final stages of my Diploma in Creative Writing last year. So I'm more than happy to help this artist with his final work pieces in his academic courses.

And apologies for my delays in replying. Tech Support is still trying to figure out what's going on with not being able to access the US City of Heroes website (apparently the issue is affecting others as well)

Regards,

James

you've done it again ironik, you aren't spose to talk about the forum rules either. Between the two of us we'll get CH's thred closed LOL

That is pretty interesting CH, I don't think I would have the peace of mind to submit a script or writing sample to someone like that.

My access to the US City of Heroes Website is computer or connection based, it's kind of stumping Tech Support atm. On my personal PC I can play the game but can't access the Website. On the work PC upstairs I can access the website without a problem - go figure.

Yeah, I read it earlier. He's right, in that WE have seen the pictures, but you apparently forgot to send them to him? And I'll add my own reinforcement to what he said, the comic pages that I've seen try to move the story a little too fast. That could be improved by raising the data-density through Text - tell us what we're seeing, that way both threads of the story compliment each other.

You appear to have 2 stories, weaving together into one - which is fine, but we readers aren't always that quick on the uptake, so you might want to slow the pacing, slightly, at the beginning. Describe the action and the scenery in your establishing shots. You can keep some sections of the text 'Haiku-dense', terse, but full of meaning, but other parts need to be extended and expanded.

Be Well!

Completely agreed. I've been working on revised version since December (nothing is every complete), and the great thing about Photoshop layers is that adding in text is rather easy

My very first attempt at Flash compiling. It ain't flash and it ain't pretty but the idea is to show how you can deconstruct the sequential pages and then reassemble them in Flash. The next step would be to reintroduce the lettering and a vocal track, sound effects, and music.

Just a quick update - still having to jump back and forth between computers to access the City of Heroes US Website. Sill trying to work this out with tech support.

Been a while since my last update by that's mainly because I've been in discussions with a Production Company in New Zealand for the past month interested in an animated television pilot of Comrade Hero. With a Broadcast commitment secured, and the Proposal and Treatment approved, an application for funding was recently sent through to New Zealand on Air. I've gone off on a bit of a tangent here from wanting to have a publication, but if you can secure a broadcast series... well now.

Anyway, Ian Richardson has been working on Triptychstyled pieces for me. First of three presented below. Comrade Hero and Graviton Girl. To be inked and colored.

Fingers crossed, although the wait time is about 12 weeks for confirmation from New Zealand on Air in respects to broadcast funding. So no holding my breath.

Funny you should mention that... but that's something intended in the near future.

A Comrade Hero cartoon? ummm how soon and what channel (or website) will I be watching them on is what I wanna know!

Also those last two pieces are some exceptional pencils. Hadn't heard of Ian before but I'm off to browse his gallery now.

P.S. One thing though, in that first piece Graviton Girl's chest emblem is not following the contours
of her chest and so appears to be a solid object floating on top of her outfit rather than a pattern on the fabric itself.

I thought the same thing. But the rest of the drawing is the cat's pyjamas.

You're right! I'll drop a note off to Ian about that. I didn't even notice that.

I was referred to Ian at the end of last year by a colorist. At the time Ian was having one of those Christmas Holiday sales. I started out just wanting one piece - but after seeing the three different commission sketches he showed me, I wanted all three put in an extended wraparound.

My cat doesn't wear pajamas, but I've certainly lost a few socks and woolen jerseys over the years.
