Here's another total package. Comrade Hero by Felipe Watanabe, colored by Sean Ellery. Another surprise coloring. Sean has been raiding my pieces lately as they come in for coloring.

I did a better version of Comrade Hero's head height.

The whole discussion got me wondering about head heights in general, so I found a bunch for comparison's sake. Looks like the rule of thumb of 7 to 8 heads tall holds true. Some of these aren't exact, of course, due to stances and camera angle, but it's good enough for government work.

Let me wrap my head around this...

Thanks for that Ironik - nice comparing the 'real' world actors who portrayed Superman and the comic book depictions.

there's a standard for comic book heroes. It's all about making them look more than the average human. I can post scan of a book explaining it in the morning if you like, but i expect Ironik is on the ball with his PS measurements anyway, (As that's basically how they do it) and will save me the copyright infringement

CS posted the 'idealized' comic book physique standards earlier in the post. Ironik was using his technical skills to show that Comrade Hero wasn't a short squat individual when you used the heads count measurement.

These images are spectacular! I particularly like the pale background. The light through the clouds is spectacular.

With the darkness around his waist, I am drawn to the light on his thigh (similar source to his chest) - if the sun is behind him, I'm not sure where this comes from. Perhaps if it was a different hue (red perhaps, for the white background) he might be flying towards a brightly lit conflagration.

But this is very minor. This is still my favorite CH action shot.

You didn't? To think I always held you in such high regard. >_>

The flying eagles piece is nice, the sunset lighting is quite impressive. The second plane though, there's something about it that jumps out at me. There's a wrong angle or something, perhaps I'm just too used to american jets.

I agree. I wonder about the dark shading as well, but am still very pleased with how this turned out. Makes note to pass onto Felipe.

I don't have quite the brain functioning skills I used to. Chalk that up to an ever-increasing regime of pain medication and nerve relaxants.

Ah yes, the planes. The Sukhoi T-50 PAK FA looks both similar and dissimilar to the F-22 Raptor.

Also been experimenting with the logo and title design work that Noah Lane did for me. The star arrangement is from the New Zealand Flag, representing the Crux constellation, more commonly referred to as the Southern Cross. Both Four Star and One Star Variations below:

What's on the agenda next?

I'm currently having the English text from my Sampler pages translated into Maori. My aim is to have a bilingual print and digital product.

I'll be arranging print samples and formatting for digital media, and continuing work on business plan, project proposal, and reference material. From February to April is the next lot of funding round applications from different Government Agencies here in New Zealand.

YamandĂș Orce will be working on about 5-10 character design sheets similar to his Comrade Hero piece:

It's where Comrade Hero logs in.

It gives him a better time zone for night-time crime fighting around the world.

Ah ha! Well my Comrade Hero Project that I worked on for my Diploma in Creative Writing and have been pursuing for print and digital media in English and Maori is based outside of the America's and Europe and re-focused on a geographical triangle between Antarctica, Australia, and New Zealand.

There's also a groovy little video on my Comrade Hero Profile on Talenthouse that has the Flag and Title design running through it.

Ayup, born and raised in Aotearoa/New Zealand.

And geographical location and international timezones are nyet an obstacle to crushing all enemies of the People, and ensuring the continued stability and security of the State!
