Can we get a torrent for future downloads?

With so many people having problems downloading, myself included, trying to DL the test server and constantly getting stuck for 20 hours on a fixing pigg file. It would be nice to be able to DL everything via torrents. It is always nice to have at least two ways to download files imo.

I support this. Unfortunately I don't think it will happen simply because large patches only happen on issue releases, which only happen a few times a year. I doubt they'd invest the time and manpower into coming up with an additional patcher system just for that.

While I'd love a torrent too, the whole idea for the updater is that Paragon has control over the files pulled down.

With a torrent, they relinquish this sort of control, as the download is distributed across a group of machines they have no direct control over.

Possibly do a torrent for somebody downloading the test from scratch, but leave updates to patch. Save on some bandwidth.

It took me 18 tries to connect, then 5 minutes stuck at "Requesting patch.." and now going on 20 minutes to download 11.9MB at 10.2k @_@

So finally got in, upped my settings for ultramode and was told had to exit and restart for the effects to take place now at connection attempt #6 :sighs:

My launcher keeps freezing, either that, or there's really 1193046:28:02 Remaining on my download of Training Room.

Just for the fun of it, if that is how long it would take you to download, it should be done in 136 years, 36 days, 28 minutes, and 2 seconds

I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, Keep me here!

The 2 seconds is what pushes it over the acceptable time frame.

Well the Devs need a better solution as the inability to download the new patch on Test means no testing being done on Issue 17. That's a lose/lose siutation for everyone.

Although there is some truth to this, a torrent would still have their patch server as a fixed seeding source, so there is always at least as many sources available as they have now.

Add to that the fact that every block downloaded over torrent is checksummed and verified, I think it is a really good suggestion to distribute files, especially the .piggs

I reactivated my account after several months to try out i17 but now it's impossible to DL the test server for me. Seeing as how the connection once the DL is actually done still seems borked, I'm just gonna avoid it and hope it goes live soon or they fix it. For those that want it, there's a fix in the "0kb/s" thread in here. It involves hijacking the EU updater.

I'd kill for a physical media, it's bloody irritating putting all the new data onto a new cd, or cds... I don't have the greatest expertise, and granted it doesn't take much to do it but I don't have an external media drive I can use, nor do I want to pay extra for CD-RW. I've capped my broadband use not long after D/L the whole game again, due to W7 but I'm worried for say the next time, GR + lots of forthcoming Issue: "X" data.

However, a torrent would probably suffice if not. Good idea.

And don't bother saying "everything is digital":

Sod off.

I would have to say no to this because I absolutely suck with Torrents.

Unless it was a 2nd option, then sure, add it in. But I would prefer to download my Patches and Content the old fashioned, easy way myself.
